Commercial Description:
This is a full-bodied stout with plenty of roast flavor as well as hints of molasses and chocolate. Ridiculous amounts of black and caramel malts make this stout smooth, creamy, and utterly opaque.

12 ounce bottle enjoyed on a rainy summer day. Absolutely picture perfect pour. It came out a dark black color with a very nice 1.5 finger width tan head. The aroma is fairly bland for a stout. It consisted of roasted malt, faint coffee, and possibly some very subtle dark fruit notes. The taste also consisted of roasted malt and some coffee. It left a bit of a strange metallic aftertaste though. Finished with a nice bitter taste. Overall, a very good stout, but definitely not as good as Bells Expedition...

Pours jet black in color with a boisterous brown head that leaves a decent lacing behind. Aroma consists of bubblegum, licorice, with hints of toffee, coffee, and roasted malt. Taste is bitterness of roasted malt and coffee up front, with sweetness of black licorice in the finish. A bit watery finish as well though.

Bottle. Black, with a foamy medium tan head that soon dissipates to about half a finger’s width but leaves some nice lacing. Chocolate and a little licorice in the aroma. Flavor is rather rich up front, with clean roasted and caramel malts leading into a chocolate coffee finish and a lightly bitter aftertaste. This has a malt profile that would make a great imperial stout, if it were about one and a half times as big. Smooth palate. A nice stout. I could easily see this as a great everyday drinking stout, if it didn’t come from a thousand miles away...

A: Deep black in color with a nice espresso head that fades to a nice ring atop the glass. S: Nice malty brew. There are definite Coffee, Chocolate, and Caramel aromas here. T: I like this one, not the best of the Bell’s bunch but good nonetheless. Has a nice smokiness to it. I can taste hazelnuts, chocolate, dark roasted coffee, and charcoal. M: It’s an easy drinker. Medium in body, but goes down ever so smooth.

This beer pours a really dark black with a medium tan head. Smell of roasted coffee and chocolate. Taste is the same as the smell; roasted coffee and chocolate. Great beer and on a winter day.

12-oz bottle. Licorice and soy sauce in the aroma. Roasty malt and licorice up front. Coffee in the finish. Medium body. Clean finish. High drinkability. Another winner by Bell’s.

Dark brown-black with a beige-brownish lasting and ceamy head. Aromas of rosted nuts and chocolate. Full body with masses of flavors, crisp CO2 attack than chocolate, roasted malt, licorice and a long roasty finish. I sampled this one too cold, but I suspect it is amazing as it warms up. Very nice stout.

Solid, dark pour topped by an ample creamy head. Aroma is roasted caramel and chocolate malts with hints of spice. Flavor is the same, and brings forth hints of dark fruit along with notes of allspice. Mouthfeel is fantastically creamy and smooth. Almost (but not quite) ’too big for its britches’ to be in the standard stout category. This is amazing, and seems to be my favorite regular stout so far. Can’t seem to go wrong with a Bells stout.
