Bells has never disappointed me anyway. It looked deeper orange than most wheat beers I’ve had. Flavor was pretty wheaty and citrusy and not overly offensive... Pretty solid brew. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 23, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz glass in a pub glass. Initially, I thought this was a Belgian Wit beer, and was going to rate it as such. Given the fact that it is listed as an American Wheat beer, it seems necessary to alter my feelings in terms of the aroma and flavors. In relation to a Wit beer, this beer is a terrible disappointment. In relation to an American wheat, it comapares pretty favorably.
The sample poured a relatively cloudy medium yellow color. The nose was easily the worst part of this beer. No one note was detectable. Instead, I essentially got notes of stale malt and yeast. It wasn’t exactly inviting. The palate was pretty boring as well. There were notes of malt, but it wasn’t complex in the least. Overall, I had really high hops for a beer from a brewery as revered as Bells. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the craftsmenship. beerandIT (182), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2009 Pours cloudy yellowish gold with a bit of head. Light bodied. On the nose you get a bit of citrus, wheat, hint of hops and a sliver of malt. On the palate a very smooth wheat and stays on there like a good wheat should. Hints of hops, citrus and some very faint on the palate. Nice american wheat and highly recommended for newbies and vets alike. Very sessionable. Taverner (837), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 18, 2009 Pours a cloudy orange-golden. Lots of fluffy white cloud like head. Flavor is biscuity, full of fruity notes. Finishes clean. pintocb (509), Darsville, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 18, 2009 Looks good in the glass; golden color with a lot of yeasty haze, billowy white head. The aroma is muted, some spicyness and yeast, biscuity. The flavor is malty with a few hints of pepper and fruit. Really a bit of a let down. I love wheat ales, and I had such hopes for this one. fiver29 (713), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 18, 2009 5 liter mini keg pours hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is wheat and grain. Medium light mouthfeel. Flavor follows nose and has some wheat flavor upfront with a grainy finish. Nice and easy drinking brew especially in the summer time. I’ll be picking up a couple more mini kegs for summer parties. Its a brew I can drink and others seem to like as well.
