LIGONIER (4), Ligonier, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Aug 15, 2008 I have this American wheat ale on tap at home and it has become a summer favorite with my friends. A hazy yellow beer with hints of citrus, and spice. A bitter after taste from the hops, with a creamy head. Some add a slice of orange, as for me, naked taste better. StFun (535), Indiana, USA Aug 12, 2008 Not a bad beer, but doesn’t live up to the hype. Perfectly drinkable, but just not really what I expected. Nice hop profile here, but just too much spice. There are some nice malt notes in the background, but they never really come forward, and the drinker is just left with a grassy beer. I’d just as soon have a Gumballhead or similar. Miver (551), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 12, 2008 Poured from MiniKeg at BCTC thanks to TomDecapolis. Poured cloudy gold in color with a medium sized white head. Aroma of wheat, orange peel, bread, lemongrass. Tastes of wheat, light citrus, lemongrass, and mildly spiced. This is a great session beer for a hot day. Nice. Capa (952), Yokosuka, Japan Aug 12, 2008 Hazy, glowing orange with a small white head. Orange, citrus, fresh hops, light wheat, and yeast in the aroma. Full bodied with noticeable carbonation. Orange, light citrus hops, yeast, and spice in the flavor. A very enjoyable, and thoroughly refreshing summer brew. Block (363), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Aug 12, 2008 Pours a light yellow-orange with white head. Light bodied with minimal hop bitterness. Flavor of citrus and light malts. Very smooth and easy to drink. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Aug 9, 2008 Pours a cloudy amber color with some small particules floating about. Foamy white head that leaves some lcing. Aroma of fruit and yeast. Love the flavor of this one. Sweet with some spice. Light carbnonation. Very refresing beer. otakuden (518), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 9, 2008 The only reason I need to try a beer is to have it sitting in front of me, tempting me with her sublime sensual body. If you tell me she comes from the Bell’s Brewery, I’ll cherish her every quaff of the way and probably ask for another.
Bell’s Oberon Ale, a summer wheat, pours a gorgeous cloudy peachy orange-red and practically lights up my glass. A soft, full head forms at the top of my wheat/hefe glass. She lingers throughout, leaving light rings of brussels lace on the way down. The nose - summer peaches, lemon, soft sweet wheat. Did I mention peaches? Yes, and deliciously tart and sweet at the same time. Hop oils and bite on the top and sides of my tongue, lending a crisp punch to this wheaty summer ale.
An excellent thirst-quenching summer wheat beer from Bell’s. I could easily quaff a couple glasses of Oberon Ale while relaxing on a deserted beach somewhere. Just me, the sand and the surf, and an Oberon Ale in my hand. foundmd (163), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 8, 2008 Updated: Apr 27, 200912oz bottle. Hazy orange pour with a medium white head. Pleasant, sweet aroma of yeast and citrus. Flavor of earthy grain, hops, malt, and citrus. Light bodied and refreshing. Extremely smooth and easy to drink. A perfect beer for hot summer days.
