afireinside96 (807), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 28, 2008 12oz bottle served in a weizen glass. Pour is cloudy gold with a thin head, large chunks of sediment float lazily around in the liquid. Smells very citrusy as well as some yeasty esters. Taste is malty sweet, not really much else going on. With the Bell’s label on it i expected some crazy uber-crafted weizen bursting with flavor. It is crisp and clean but a bit of a let down. subcell (95), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Jun 28, 2008 Wow. I was recommended this tasty brew from a worker at Grape & Gourmet and I was not disappointed at all. The aroma was very nice, slightly cloudy golden color and a nice crisp and refreshing taste that finished very clean. I really enjoyed this beer and look forward to many more! brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 28, 2008 Darn good wheat ale. It taste’s good to begin with, but it gets better and better as your taste buds adjust. Don’t miss it.
On tap from Guido’s in downtown Mobile. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA Jun 28, 2008 Draft, Baja Bean, Staunton VA. Medium amber with white head, certainly dark for a wheat or "hefe" style; served with lemon wedge. Aromas of mildly spicy grassy hops and medium caramel malts. Flavor is slightly tangy light malt with a pleasant bitterness underneath, lemon from the wedge of course. All in all lacking in depth and character-- an easy drinker, but only that. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Jun 28, 2008 Friends in DC= many *bottles* of Bells for this New Englander. Pours a dull, clear straw yellow with some noticeable bubbles. Chunky off white head that clears pretty quick, leaving a decent ring. Aroma isn’t too promising... dank, grainy vegetal smell. Flavor improves- some light but distinct spicy bitterness, lively tart fruit notes, and a pleasant grainy malt backbone. Full on the palate, with some more body than many wheat beers. Crisp finish. flatmatt (221), Northville, Michigan, USA Jun 27, 2008 Updated: Jul 24, 2009Re-rate July 24, 2009. 12 oz bottle. Pours golden with a small white head and sparse debris. Sweet biscuit aroma with a touch of honey. Similar flavors of biscuit, wheat, sweet honey, and some hoppy citrus. I gave this a 3.3 originally, but this year’s batch is a pretty nice example of a medium-bodied wheat ale, and I think I’m going to go ahead and make this a 3.5 on my list.
Original rating: 12 oz bottle. Pours pale, slightly hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma of wheat and some sweetness. Taste of some citrusy hops and some malts, some wheatiness. More wheat comes across in the finish. Decent light refreshing wheat beer. 6 / 3 / 7 / 4 / 13 beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Jun 27, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with yem25. Pours a very cloudy yellow gold with a moderate white head that faded to a light film after the first quarter of the glass. Light but pleasant aroma of wheat grain and just a touch of lemon. Flavor is similar but stronger than the aroma with plenty of wheat with just a bit of lemon and perhaps some yeast as well. The mouthfeel is more full bodied and creamy than a typical wheat ale and is a plus for this beer. Refreshing and enjoyable. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Jun 26, 2008 Glass: weizen
