Scouser (39), Pennsylvania, USA Aug 18, 2009 Updated: Aug 21, 2009light golden color, very little aroma, balanced flavor not too malty, very mild hops. fizzy on the palate. easy to drink, refreshing beer. good one for a hot summer day, but if you are looking for a beer with a lot of character this is not it guerinfbfan (32), Elmwood Park, Illinois, USA Aug 18, 2009 Pours a golden brown, with a large white foamy head. Smells of oranges. You get the taste of citrus, orange, and wheat. Goes down easy. Good brew. Beerowulf (10), , Indiana, USA Aug 16, 2009 Excellent summer brew. Cloudy orange color, great lacing and frothy head. Spice is just right as is the hint of hops. Malt and citrus also present.
My favorite Bell’s outside of the Two-Hearted Ale. JoeMurphy (30), Ohio, USA Aug 16, 2009 A pleasant wheat ale - slightly estery, round and full in the mouth, slightly sweet but not overpowering. I happen to prefer my summer beers lighter and my wheat beers spicier than this, but it’s nice enough. Kuzo (32), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 13, 2009 Poured golden orange from a bottle in to a pint glass. Very little head will minimal lacing. Smells of orange, wheat, and flowery. Tastes sweet of wheat and orange with light refreshing hops. There is also some lemon. Finally finishes with a nice subtle bitterness. Light mouth feel with good carbonation.
Very refreshing on a hot summer day.
Shall I have another? Yes please. phaleslu (426), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 12, 2009 Draft. I can’t agree more with the previous rater- Oberon really is a perfect summer session beer. Slightly cloudy yellow pour with medium white head. Citrus, other fruits, mild spice, and wheat on the nose. Flavor is also primarily citrus and hops with malt, wheat, and a little spice. Feels great on the palate, with a medium body, gentle carbonation, and a surprisingly creamy feel for all the citrus in there. A can’t-go-wrong summer classic. HoppyAlesToYou (24), , Indiana, USA Aug 12, 2009 Oberon is summer session beer at its finest, crisp and floral refreshment. This is one of few wheat ales worth pursuing. grebs (69), Ohio, USA Aug 11, 2009 The definition of summer for me. A classic wheat beer. Perhaps it isn’t the absolute pinnacle of the style but it sure is good. Every part of this beer is reminiscent of the season. The palate and flavor profile is bright, wheaty, and pleasantly citrusy. Citrus is non-contrived and adds plenty to an already nuanced beer. Take the Blue Moon away from your friends and hand them this.
