Officially beer 2 of Bartzilla’s Death Metal Beer Tasting 6/30/07. Beer 1 was Blair’s homebrew nut brown IPA. Shared with Bartzilla, Naven, BikesandBeer and others. Pretty damn nice summer beer, we each had almost a full 12 oz. Freshing and light.

Bottle. Cloudy dark yellow with a gentle head. At first the aroma is all yeast but given time banana and bread notes appear. Dusty texture and muddy flavour. Belgian alcohol finish. Not a refreshing wheat.

In the bottle. This is a pretty honey cloudy golden beer with a thick fluffy white head. The strange thing is that the head has these darker tan splotches on top which I have never observed before in any other beer. Aroma is straw-like with honeysuckle scent. Has a wheaty tangy zesty flavor. Citrus is faint only. The finish is of a grainy wheat with a slight hop bitterness. Pretty good.

This is a pretty good beer. Sweet peach aroma. Yellow gold color with next to no head. Sweet peach and wheat flavor. Good body. A very sweet wheat beer - nice and not cloying.

Bottled. Pours out in a warm golden colour with orange edges. The foam is low but still floating. Mild aroma of slightly sourish yellow fruit, biscuit and metal. Flavour of apricots, metal and biscuit in a light body. Short and mild finish of of cookies and apricots.

The big surprise is an American Wheat can actually taste good. Much like a hefeweizen. Gold, lots of yeast. Flavors of orange, coriander, citrus, and wheat. Easy to drink and refreshing. Good stuff.

Batch 8992 thanks to daknole. Pours with a small white head and a hazed golden sunset body. Aroma is sweet with honey and wheat, some rotten orange, tang and light spice. Taste is pretty bland and basic. Some biscuit and light orange. Candied tangerine peel and cereal. It is light and refreshing, but not exciting. Light, watery.
