Light enough for a hot summer day but rich, spicy, interesting enough to accomodate the beauty of the epic dance of men and waves. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA

Mmmm, Peachy! Gotta love this beer. a wonderful blend of fruit and hops gives the wheat beer an elegant body that sets it apart from just your average wheat. great in the summer and full in body. Has a ton of yeast/wheat presence and the hops produce a fruity flavor. RERATE. I cellared this beer for about 5 months, not long, but I was impressed. A much more mature ale, with a warm alcohol flavor came out. Round and hoppy, yet a short, biting aftertaste arose. Nice straw color. Very desirable. I recommend cellaring this beer for a while and trying it. 2004 draught. Wow, the effects of Winter white can definitely be seen on this year’s version. I think it’s the best yet. Tons of sediment, a lot more agressive yeastiness and plenty more sweet malt. The warm fruit flavors are there in abundance, but the coarseness of texture, the big yeast flavor and slightly sour tinges that remind me of the Winter white, make this more enjoyable for me. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 17, 2004 Brewed and kegged one week ago, keg tapped 5 minutes ago.
It's a hotly anticipated sign of spring in the Midwest, the arrival of the Bell's Oberon, and I'm ready for my first, fresh sip of the season.
Color: a thick, opaque yellow/orange body. Tap Oberon is thick and cloudy at the top and the bottom of the keg, but it pours clear after a few a few pints are pulled. Head is nice and white, thick and lasting.
Aroma is delicate, but brimming with zesty citrusy notes, spices, sea-foam. In a nutshell, the tingly orange flavor dominates Oberon's taste profile. Carbonation is low, yeasty component of this unfiltered brew is tasty, tasty, tasty and adds significantly to the supremely delicious and downable mouthfeel.
As with many other Bell's products, the style is not presented clearly in the name or on the label. This used to be called Solsun, until a Mexican Brewery took umbrage. I believe they steal the name from Shakespeare's Fairy King in "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It is described as "an American wheat ale with European ingedients", which still doesn't answer all the questions. Czech saaz hops are used, and imported (from where?)wheat malt, but no curacao zest or coriander are mentioned. That aside, it tastes more like a Belgian witbier than anything else, but, like many Kalamazoo offerings, it belongs in a class by itself.
This beer plays very lightly on the palate, delivering zingy, spicy, and very fruity hops, with an utterly delicate, and thirst-quenching texture. Wheat isn't tasted as strongly as in other wheat beers, goes down very smooth, but still adds considerably to the texture. This is a beer that makes itself at home in the mouth, and makes one quite comfortable during it's stay. Long, delicious finish. Light body. So easy to drink! Everlasting finish!
There are many tasty, thirst-quenching wheats out there, but only one Oberon. The fruitiness really pushes it forward! Supreme acheivement, and a beer I'll be enjoying all summer long!

Then I am presented with a 12 oz brown bottle with a label that could easily have been drawn by any elementary school special needs class participant. Ah well, looks can be deceiving. The beer pours a very cloudy golden color with a large white head. Hmmm - looking up I would say. The strong scent of citrus and wheat is prominent. The scent wafts across the barroom table. Strong orange and wheat flavor fairly erupts upon the tongue. The aftertaste is sweet and citrusy. My wife fights me for the remainder of the glass. We head for home and immediately purchase a case for private consumption. This is easily one of the better wheat beers I have encountered. biggenius29 (155), Hamilton, Michigan, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 3, 2007 Bottle, batch 7829 (bottled on 2-14-07) Pours yellow with a large white frothy head with a good lacing that goes from the top of the glass to the bottom. The large head shrinks a little bit, but it still stays the whole time. Looking at it it is hazy with tiny particles, this is bottle conditioned. The aroma is fruity, takeing the first smell it smells like a orange. The first taste has a hint of caramel malt. I am also tasteing Orange and lemon. There is also a taste of Belgium in there, there is a touch of sourness and earthy yeast. The taste is moderatly sweet without much bitterness, followed by a very slight sour and bitter finish. The body is medium with soft carbination and a creamy texture. All in all this is a very good American Wheat. Good job Bells lampeno420 (321), Zeeland, Michigan, USA
