| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2009 I like the drawing on the label of a young man holding oversized fresh grains and hops. Fairly yeasty aroma. A nicely balanced porter, with coffee and smokey malt flavors, and an unexpected light, sweet, minty finish. Very nice mouthfeel. This is a good brew, and one I could easily have more than one of. A light roasted, malty aroma. Not too strong. Crisp, lightly carbonated; A toasted, mildly woody or nutty flavor with slight hoppy notes at the finish. Milder all around than anticipated, though this could be due a stuffed nose. A good beer, but fairly unremarkable.

Pours as one might expect, black with a tan head. Coffee and caramel notes on the palate i even get a bit of a nutty character to it. Very complex porter. Another solid one from Bells. Great brew would definitely recommend it. acearl (218), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottle. Very dark brown, nearly black, and a nice foamy tan head. Nose seems a little roasty, a little fruity, not terribly strong. Flavor is a lot of sweet chocolate/coffee malt, lightly bitter. Not bad, if a little one-dimensional. This can’t stand up to a porter like Black Butte. Kind of a shame, since I brought this one all the way from Illinois to Texas to try it.
