Commercial Description:
An abundance of rye grains provide a spicy twist to otherwise traditional stout flavors. A unique approach to an entirely new style of stout.

Nice, basic stout. Some nutty flavor and a little more malt than, say, a Guinness. Pours very dark with a medium/light body. Very little head, but coats the glass during drinking. Good quality beer.

Found this one bottled (but not for long!) in St. Charles, Illinois. Very nice stout. Very dark brown pour with a dark tan head, nose of dark chocolate and canned cherries, quite mild with lots of bitter chocolate, espresso, and apricots. I like it!

Bottles. Nice solid stout. Nothing really special. Couldn’t taste anything but a stout.

Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Black with creamy beige head. Burnt aroma of bread and prunes. Dryish with a surprising fruity touch. Medium bodied with spritzy mouthfeel, light notes of nutes and blackberries. Doesn’t have the roastiness usually associated with stouts. Lightly salty finish. Surprising in every aspect.

Bottle @ Cole’s. Black, no head. Nose is slight cherry, deep roast, caramel. Flavor is light roasty malt, some cerry, light rye spice. Much lighter flavor than expected.

A nice simple stout. Not to different than some porters. I love the color and the light brown head. Smells and taste like loaf of old fashion rye brad. Nice toasted notes on the noise and the taste buds No bitterness of any kind. Just a hint of sweetness at the end.

Bottle. Pours a dark ruby / somewhat see through dark caramel color with a bit of a head, but it turns into mere swirls of tan with a only a slight hint of lace on the edges. Nose is pleasant like roasted coffee and maybe some black olive? Flavor is of slightly burnt toast with vegemite... nice, and it has an aftertaste at the back of the tongue that I would call almost sour, but not unpleasant. I guess the adjective "tangy" which I see was used by RollinHard in another rating was spot-on. I like the beer, but it definitely has it’s own character and it is different than normal stouts. Carbonation is probably a bit too high, but not bad. Medium body. This is another good beer from Bell’s. Why should I be surprised?
