| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 24, 2006 Bottle. Poured an opaque dark brown that appeared black in the glass. Head was minimal. A strong roast scent with a subdued sweetness, the rye was evident. Nice balanced flavor of roasted malt with like the aroma, a hint of sweetness and minimal bitterness. A bit watery, but with a pleasant fizzle to this smooth brew. Tasty. Suttree (2708), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 24, 2006 Black, virtually no head. Big rye bread/toast aroma, with a note of coffee in the background. Rye bread, chocolate, a touch of smoke, perhaps a touch of whiskey. Surprisingly clean, and lighter bodied than i expected, which seem to work well here. Thanks to Springslicker for this one! | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 19, 2006 Dark Black poor, with little to no tannish head. The aroma is dominated by carmalized malt. Very small/slight nose, very mild malts are the peek of the flavor. There is very little carbonation, which is very proper. Over all, a good standard stout, there are better, and there are much worse. Very easy to drink. kmweaver (2440), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Updated: Jul 6, 2007Rerate, 07.04.07, 12oz bottle, 2002, courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! Pours a murky brown color with some tan particulates; medium tan head with good lacing. Toasted caramel and coffee in the aroma; some dark chocolate. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of roasted and toasty malts upfront, with some rye and milk chocolate; slightly creamy, with a light effervescence; quite nice. Medium, dry chocolate and grainy finish. 7.3.7.4.15=3.6
8.16.06: Dark brown cola appearance, minimal head. Enticing toasted nose, showing coffee and rye. Medium mouthfeel, with a bit of roasted malts and coffee. A sessionable, light and engaging stout. 7.3.6.3.14=3.3 lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2006 Black pour with medium-sized tan head than dissipates quickly with no lacing. The aroma is entirely.... hmmmmm..... rye toast (talk about a beer that smells exactly as you would expect). Flavor is of (you guessed it) rye bread with hints of milk chocolate and some roastiness. Great chewy, bread-like texture. Wonderfully unique stout.
