Commercial Description:
An abundance of rye grains provide a spicy twist to otherwise traditional stout flavors. A unique approach to an entirely new style of stout.

Bottle from Pailhead, batch 7234 or so. Black colored, perhaps a touch of light passes through. Thin tan head barely has the gumption to form and then fades quickly to an interrupted ring at the edge of the glass. Modest lacing is left behind. Aroma is full of rye and modestly spicey. A dose of roasted grain blends fairly nicely in the nose. Medium bodied, slightly thin at times. Modest carbonation. Roasty chocolate rye bread is my take on flavor. Blended well the slight peppery rye balances out well with the deeper roasted grain and hops used. Decent, certainly worth drinking again.

Pours a dark brown color with thin head that fades quickly. Smells of chocolate, roasted coffee, rye, and a hint of hops. Taste much the same with a sweet and subtely spicy rye finish. Medium bodied and mildy carbonated.

12oz bottle thanks to jeffin7: Pours to a deep, murky brown that is definitely brown and not black, with a medium leather-hide brown colored head. The aroma is light rye bread, dusty grains, some dark roast, the rye does give off an almost sweet, spicy scent at times. The taste is a very hard to detect medium bitter hops that flash very quickly at first, then immediately go right into a grainy, spicy rye-coffee flavor, along with bread dough, de-bittered cocoa, and a hint of light molasses. Medium-full bodied, moderate carbonation, bottle conditioned, finishes with some grains & flavorful rye aftertaste.

Light and refreshing for a stout. But no lack of flavor. Like drinking a piece of rye bread withoult the bulk. Also hint of some dark dry fruit such a prunes.

Bottle. Opaque body with no head, just a patchy ring of bubbles. Nose-some smoke, feed store. Taste-lightly lactic, smoke, rye, seltzer, chalky. malted milk balls, slightly sour aftertaste. There is a sourness in the nose and taste that is not pleasant.

Pour is a complete black with a small tan head. Aroma is hard to pick up but I do get some chocolate and coffee. Flavor is a bit weak for a stout but again there are some dark chocolate and coffe notes. Not the best by bells.

"This was a different one. Poured a brown color with small tan head. Aroma was weak at best. Flavor was a little bitter with some rye in there. Mouthfeel was a little dry. Good but not really what i wanted."

(Bottle via trade with BBB63, thanks Mike!) Pours very dark brown with about 1/2" of tan head that fades to a film. Aroma is possibly warm rye bread with some coffee and chocolate in the background. Mouthfeel finely prickly making it a touch harsh, dry, also a little "blunt" feeling. Sloppy lacing. Tastes lightly of coffee and chocolate, then light rye and sourdough in finish. Not really rich and tasty.
