Pours very dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma of cocoa, dark fruits, some light notes of kalamata olives. Dark chocolate is accompanied by a spicy twang, and a lasting spicy rye finish. I really enjoyed this. I was about to note that this is a great session stout - I had no clue this was 6.7% ABV. Damn, Bell’s can sure make stouts.

Jul 28, 2008 12oz bottle, batch 72xx, flavors have faded a bit, rye still smooths out the beer, but the in your face coffee,roasty flavors are subdued greatly, not bad by any stretch, nice easy sipping even on a hotter midsummer night.

Jul 15, 2008 Updated: Jul 16, 2008Bottle given to me from Robert. Not what I was expecting.. But suprisely good. Dark in color, no head. Aroma that I cant put my finger on. Taste is sweet and smooth. Rye, chocolate, small amount of coffee, roasted malt, but has a nicy spiceyness that suits it well. Texture is a little thin for a stout. Hats off to the brewers at Bells for trying something unique. May 26, 2008 Bottle pours a brown body with a tan head. Aroma is malty rye and chocolate with a hint of coffee. Flavor is such with a dry rye finish. not bad.

Pour with light carbonation. Nose is cholately and Belgian (bubblegum). Rye is subtle at this point. Hidden behind most of the roast.
