| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2006 12oz bottle acquired in trade with ClarkVV (thanks!). Poured a dark black, with red edges, and an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of rye, roasted malts, bread, and some dark fruits. Tastes of bread, chocolate, some coffee, rye, roasted malts, caramel, and dark fruits. I found the aromas to be on the stronger side compared to the tastes (product of the age?). Body was also a little on the thin side. Lacing left on the glass. Overall all a very good beer that I’m glad I had the chance to enjoy! bu11zeye (5579), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma of earthy rye and some faintly burnt black malt. Body starts semi-sweet with a touch of caramel malty flavor, lots of toasty rye and a lingering earthy roasted finish with hints of smoke. An interesting and enjoyable stout. I have a old bottle of this that I’ll have to try soon. hopscotch (5507), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 1, 2003 Pours tar black. A murky, dark orange/brown color is revealed when held up to the sun. Small, fizzy, light brown head.
The nose is of vanilla, and chocolate. Some cola and smoke as well.
A rich, dark chocolate flavor. Lightly bitter, moderately tart and acidic. Well-balanced.
Full-bodied with a heavy, oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, dry finish with rye notes. Being a big fan of rye whiskey, I can't help but delight in this beer. Very nice! Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark
