| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 4, 2006 Updated: Oct 21, 2006From 12oz Bottle, #7235. Pours a rich, deep brown color with a thin layer of fizzy tan head that quickly recedes to a thin rawhide ring around the edges of my glass. Interesting fruity aroma of sugar plums dance with a soft bouquet of molasses and pumperknickle bread. The aroma is quite interesting in its gentle fruity approach and restrained toasted malt character for a stout. Medium bodied texture with light carbonation. The flavors bring out some mild christmas fruitcake spread with some fresh plum jam. The finish brings out a unique yeasty spice character before finishing with the promised smack of toasted rye. Quite tasty, delicate stout overall. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 27, 2002 Typical bell stout aroma, rather oaty with some background hoppiness. Extremely sticky maltiness, with a long souring malt finish that keeps getting worse. This is the most confused of the Bell’s stouts that I’ve tasted. drfabulous (1268), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2006 Nice stout, like all of Bell’s stouts. The "rye" issue doesn’t hit home for me here. It mostly keeps its basic stout style and taste. A bit sweet as well. MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA

Pours black quickly fading brown head and decent lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a weird back of the throat stickiness. Palate is dry and creamy. Different and tasty. Aromas of roasted malt, tart fruit and bready malt. Creamy and roasty malt flavor with a tart berry finish. Not entirely sure about this one and I have to wonder whether it was better fresh. Still glad I got to try it though. Brigadier (1246), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

Poured ver dark with a thin tan head, Scents of rye, grain, oak and smoke wafted from the glass. On my first sip, the grains were obvious - rye and what with a slight smoky flavor not unlike cured ham. A creamy coffee taste soon followed and then it faded away leaving almost no taste behind. Towards the end of the glass I began to detect the taste of club soda. Overall, a fairly nice stout from Bells but I doubt this is one to actively seek out again. waolsen (1223), Littleton, Colorado, USA
