But suprisely good. Dark in color, no head. Aroma that I cant put my finger on. Taste is sweet and smooth. Rye, chocolate, small amount of coffee, roasted malt, but has a nicy spiceyness that suits it well. Texture is a little thin for a stout. Hats off to the brewers at Bells for trying something unique. Good beer! Thanks robert! GodOfThunder (878), Orlando, Florida, USA

Hints of coffee here, not much rye flavor though. The rye is definitely muted. ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA

tap offerings. It was my first brew of St. Patty’s Day. Heavy nose of caramel & coffee.
This brew is black with brown highlights. The average frothy tan head is mostly
diminishing with no lace. The flavor is very balanced with pronounced malt start
meandering into a roasted caramel espresso finish. The full and soft palate is exquisitely
creamy. nolankowal (854), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Feb 20, 2006 Updated: Mar 23, 2006Oily brown-black pour leaving a light tan head. Coffee, chocolate, and breadish aromas hit the nose. The flavors are a roasty chocolate malt, some quick coffee in the front and in the finish along with a sutle rye note. Oil slick over the tounge, a bit malty, a bit bitter...not too much of either to where one really dominates. Very light in body for the style...almost a little watery at times...and perhaps a bit too much carbonation in the end. I think it’s a really great beer, but I didn’t think I"d ever call a stout "crisp" you know? Oh, one more thing...as great of a beer as this is...did they have to make the label so goddamn depressing? I feel like I’m drinking the soul of someone from The Great Depression...what a pisser.
