Batch 7143. Pours black with a redish tint and medium sized tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate, milk, coffee, and lots of roastedness. The flavor is very rich and roasted, chocolate and lactose are balanced by a nice, dark and bitter burnt. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy.
<br /><br /><b>Batch 7808</b> Black body with thick, creamy tan head. The aroma is a delicate blend of milk chocolate, molases, roast and roast. The flavor is dry and roasty, lots of milk chocolate, brown sugar, coffee. The medium body has the Bells signature mouthfeel, soft, smooth and creamy with a soft natural carbonation. Another amazing stout from Bells. Larry can do no wrong when it comes to the dark stuff.

Dec 3, 2008 Pours black with a nice tan head from the bottle. More smokey than creamy, which I found strange. Raisin, pepper, and faint cocoa are also detectable. Much different than what I was anticipating, but still up to the bells standard.

Pretty tasty beer.

Nov 28, 2008 Thick near black, very light head. Roasty oily aroma. Roast bitterness. Vanilla bean? Hops come on late. Licorice. Basically similar to any other good American stout.

Nov 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours Opaque black, with a thin light brown head. Nose is coffeeish, but smooth. Notes of baking chocolate, some roasty espresso. Light. Flavor is licorice and coffee with a bit of cream, sweet but roasty finish. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, but light, with light but crisp carbonation.
