Bottle from Chevy Chase courtesy of the Bang-Golly Foods Beer Club. This was not good at all. I was hoping for so much more in terms of flavor and texture and was roundly disappointed. Nose was a burnt coffee-and-grains mess. Flavor was much the same with a very mediocre porter quality about it. Tasted like that bottle of Arctic Rhino I rated earlier this year. My God this was pointless.

A: Pours jet black with a creamy one finger head. Not much carbonation and no lacing to be seen. S: Not very strong, rather mild to be honest. Picked up some milky chocolate and malt. Not much else. T: This is a rather mild beer. Has usual chocolate and coffee notes, but nothing really stands out here. M: Expected it to be a little more full bodied and creamy. It came off as medium, with little carbonation. I would call it dry in fact.

Bottle from DuffmanSW. Poured dark black with nice tan head. Aroma and taste was creamy roasty with mild chocolate notes and some smoke. Lower carbonation but very frothy. Overall pretty good.

Bottle from Beerlando. Wow this is a nice looking beer. Totally opaque dark brown, nice tan head. Nose is roasty, slight leather and tobacco and loads of caramelly toffee and brulee’d marshamallow sweetness. Flavor is roasty malt and dark sweetness all the way through. Really enjoyable beer, if not the most complex thing on earth. I’ve yet to have anything less than ’really good’ from Bell’s. Man, I wish we could get them in CO. Thanks, Bryan.

Poured from a 12 oz’er into a plastic Dixie cup. Not ideal, but these things happen. Nice tan head. Roasted malts dominate the aroma. Flavor is leather, raisins, dark and bitter chocolate. Nice bitter finish. Very smooth, heavy mouthfeel. A great one.

Aroma boozy coffee roasty. Lactose makes it sweet for sure, little sour bitter finish. Great smooth full body mouthfeel. Good middle and excellent finish the aroma and inital taste through it from above 4 for me. Would be a regular drinker for me if I could get it.

Aroma of coffee and milk chocolate. Appearance was brownish black with mocha head. Flavor of roasted coffee, milk chocolate and honey. Palate was bubbly. Decent.

Bottle from DuffmanSW. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a beige ring of foam. Aroma is mild coffee, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and a touch of smoke. Flavor is creamy chocolate and roasty coffee. Palate is creamy with soft carbonation and a full, silky body.

Dark brown with medium head. Like a silky chocolate malt. Light sweet roast and mild bitterness. A little soy. Good round body, not too thin and still very drinkable.
