sneagrams3 (1738), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Nov 18, 2009 The Dan Journal #296. Tasted 9/10/09. 12oz bottle. Batch #9306. Bottled 28 August. Fresh and delicious. Hazy with a bright golden hue. Bubbled white head. Earthy fruity aromas. Full bodied with big, fresh hops. Bitter, dry, piney and earthy. Big bold and bright with a touch mustiness. Lingering finish with a trace burn. Sticky and cloying finish. Flavors of grapefruit and slight berries, but overridden by the pine note. Good malt bill, but once again, overridden by the astringency. Tongue tingling and very solid! I want more!! tmoreau (542), Lombard, Illinois, USA Nov 18, 2009 Gift 12oz. bottle from a fellow RBian. Poured to a large fest glass a clear, orangy amber with a frothy, off white head, and ribbons of clingy lacing. The aroma was a nice bright scent of mid-toned fruit and citrus, with a bit of resin and some malt sweetness. The flavor on the other hand was pronounced, resiny hop bitterness that dominated most of the sweetness, smooth malt, and warming alcohol that built up midway through. The body was better than medium and the strong bitterness remained well past the finish, minimized only by the follow up glass of water. An excellent DIPA for the hop conscious imbiber. savnac (405), Palmer, Alaska, USA Nov 17, 2009 12 oz bottle thanks to Grant. Hazy golden/orange with a dense off white head. Big aroma of grapefruit, and sweet malt. The flavor is very bitter with some sweetness and a light alcohol taste. Medium body with average carbonation and a dry mouth feel. Thanks Grant for this great IIPA. glkaiser (1163), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 17, 2009 Light copper with big head. Tough time picking much up from the aroma; Very light citrus. Taste hits you like a brick. Very heavy and full of flavor: balanced mango/citrus hops and bready malts. Strong bitterness finishes and sticks around. Alcohol taste is very present, but little warming or burn. A little sugary sweetness. Solid, but a little disappointing. kiefdog (1585), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 14, 2009 Bottle courtesy of tampabrew. Pours a dark amber color with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of pine, grapefruit, honey, caramel, syrup, floral esters. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of citrus, pine, grapefruit, honey, caramel, light spice. Medium body with a floral hop finish. Blaze312 (132), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Nov 13, 2009 12 oz bottle. Orangish pour, off white head. Aroma and taste of citrus, fruits, sweet, and lots of delicious hops. At first I didn’t understand why they needed this beer as they already have hopslam, but they are actually quite different. scraff (1926), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Nov 13, 2009 12 oz – (Courtesy of ygtbsm94) Thanks for sharing, Brad! Dark amber, creamy off white head. Soft citrus and resiny pine aromas ride layers of honey and soft booze throughout. Deeply hopped prickly pine and tropical citrus flavors round with just a hint of sweet caramel malt. Full bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. Another well made hop bomb, but Hopslam has it beat… jake65 (1698), Williston, North Dakota, USA Nov 12, 2009 Bottle - thanks tytoanderso. Bright orange pour with a nice white head. Smells fruity, sweet, and tropical. Light pince. Smooth taste is a hop medley with citrus, pine, and tropical fruitiness. Mellow maltiness. Syrupy and smooth. Agreed; this is a beautiful beer.
