Big thanks to Craig for thsi generous extra. Pours a deep, somewhat hazy amber with a creamy beige head. Awesome nose -- rich caramel malt, bright, balanced hops, and ripe stone fruit. Not the weird explosion of hops that is Hopslam, but more refined. Deep, piney, and woody hop profile in the mouth. Not bright, high, but deep and harmonious. In more real terms, there is a higher malt presence that plays with the hops much more so than with Hopslam. This is like Hopslam’s older, wiser relative. More refined and smooth. Not so much citrus but plenty of pine, woodsy tones. Some very nice residual honey sweetness adds further balance. Freakin love this one.

Bottle at Mekong on 10/28/2009. Somewhat cloudy orange amber body. Sweet floral and light resiny hop aroma. Sweet citrus and floral hop flavor. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle from santa! Pours a slightly hazy bright orange amber hue with a beige head. aroma of pineapple, orange, melon, caramel, and some booze. pretty nice. Flavor is a nice citrusy hop and sweet caramel melon booze like taste. Pretty solid. Probably better fresh, but I enjoyed this quite a bit. Like most high alcohol double ipas, the melon and booze has started to show a bit more. but this still has plenty of hop character to still stand strong as a solid double ipa. nice job bells. and thanks J12601!

Mild aroma for a DIPA (or my nose is stuffed-up from NYE activities). Taste is dominated by citrus and bitter hops with some light caramel. The metallic hops taste really lingers in the mouth. Not as over-the-top as some DIPAs but the metallic residue taste is a bit much. Still a nicely crafted beer.

Solid dIPA but I can’t find much info on it anywhere. Dark amber in color with a small head. Aroma is citrus, hops, piney. Taste is the same. Strong hoppy flavor, dash of citrus in there. Excellent, just like most Bells brews.

unfiltered orange body with a nice long lasting thin white head that laces up a little bit, aroma is hops but some caramel malt fits through ad well, flavor is cascade hops that is balanced very well with a strong malt backbone, after reading a few other reviews I think my bottle might be a little old as it’s really lacking the bright hop flavor that we get from say Pliney and Hop Stoopid, I can tell it must have been amazing fresh out of the fermentor, but it remains a well balanced treat even after the flavor/aroma hop additions start to fade... still this really can’t even compare to many west coast DIPAs that are rated waaaay below this

I shared a bottle of this with Beerbaron617 on Christmas eve. IPA’s, let alone IIPA’s are more his thing, but this beer pretty much won me over. It was not too over the top with hops, and had a wonderful citrus floral aroma which translated directly to the flavor. Super fruity with a well rounded body and flavor.

Deep golden orange body with a thin white head. Big floral citrus nose, not the sharp citrus, but more sweet tangerine notes, like citrus candy. This is my kind of IIPA, less on the beefy bitterness, more so on the big floral notes with an ample sweetness to balance.

LIght copper color with a dense beige head. Aromas of heavy fruit, somewhat tropical and plenty of hops, both citric and pine-like. Quite sweet and thick and chewy. A citric bitterness does a decent job balancing. Flavors of tropical fruit and hints of alcohol along with a mild pepper bite. Nice, but I like a balance ot two hearted better.
