JoeM500 (1877), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2007 Side by side comparison with bottles of Two, Four, Six, Eight and Love. New Years Day 2006, I believe.
*TWO pours light orange with minimal, but noticeable haze in the bottle. Sweet nose does have a bit of spice showing through as it warms. Body is light. Dry and spicy at the finish of the bottle. Not as creamy as Oberon, lighter body. Light spices remind of a lighter witbier. Quite average, though.
*FOUR is much drier and straigh grainier wheat flavor than the two. Re-writing this review, it is what GI 312 is like today. Straw and grass with tiny hints of sweet bread and cookie barely coming through...teasing.
*SIX is a bit darker and more malt flavors are present in the nose and especially in the flavor. Sweet and mapley with the grassy dryness at the end quickly fading.
*EIGHT is dark and cloudy, nutty aroma. Flavor is really weak, as is the body. Some tiny roasted flavors, but this one seems the weakest of the bunch, despite it’s color.
*LOVE - I thought the order would go lighter to darkest, finishing with LOVE, but this is just as light as TWO. Nose is compoletely different, with alcohol upfront and some banana bread. Body is nice and rich, malty, some spices drying at the finihs. The aftertaste, dry from apparent alcohol is also spicy and wonderful. The clear winner of the series for me!
phishpond417 (1386), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Apr 21, 2008 Pours a semi hazey golden colour, small but noticeable white head. Aroma is slightly fruity, Sweet aroma with rich fruit character. Peach, red delicious apples, and cotton candy. Taste is smooth, light and fruit filled. dukefan (163), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2008 Drinkable pleasant stuff - it reminded me some of their Winter White. Flavors of banana and a slight touch of spice. dm9831 (571), Monee, Illinois, USA Mar 21, 2008 hazy gold, thin white head, dissipates quickly. aroma of grass, grain, wheaty sweetness. sweet banana flavor with some grainy undertones. creamy, medium bodied finish. not offensive. shigadeyo (1362), Southwest Ohio Area, Ohio, USA Mar 6, 2008 Batch 7083
3/06/2008: Bell’s Wheat Two (2) Ale pours a slightly hazy (some very fine sediment is floating in it) golden color. There is a flury of carbonation and a lasting medium-sized off-white head. The aroma reminds me of a Belgian Blonde Ale as it constains some lightly sweet maltiness, hints of spice, and some fresh fruitiness including peach(?), orange, and banana. This beer also tastes much like a good Belgian Blonde Ale. The malt has a slight graininess to it and the wheat has developed a nice fruity quality. There is also a nice subtle spiciness (difficult to pinpoint the exact spices) that lasts through the dry finish and combines with a slight floral and herbal hop bitterness to create a nice lasting flavor. I really like the sweet and complex fruit in the aroma and flavor. Some fusels and faint butterscotch (or something similar) become more noticeable as the beer warms. The mouthfeel of this beer is medium-light and crisp. Overall this is a refreshing beer. The profile of the Belgian Wit yeast definitely comes through in the aroma, flavor, and appearance of this beer. This was the only one of the Wheat Project beers that I did not have when they were first released because I could not find it, but I wish I had. I am really enjoying it now and bet is was also pretty good when it was originally released. I think this beer could continue to hold up for another year or two or more.
12 fl. oz. bottle from Party Town in Florence, Kentucky. Rating #184 for this beer...

GaltScat (196), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 6, 2008 Pours the part with a hazed yellow hue topped by a nice sized frothy head and good lace. The aroma has all those neat weisen esters of banana, clove, lemon, and bubblegum yeast. Also detected a touch of aromatic hops and even a bit of honey. The taste has an initial wheat smoothness supporting fleshy fruit and pale malts. A very small bit of clove and pepper towards the middle. A nice light acidic lemony twangy on the finish.
