12oz bottle, batch #9386, from grape & gourmet. pours a bright, hazy, yellow/orange with a thin, white head and solid lacing. aroma is very nice with fruity notes of sweet banana, lemon zest, and orange peel with spice notes of coriander and clove with touches of yeast, wheat, cedar wood, and vanilla. flavor is solid, although not as impressive as the aroma, with milder fruit notes of lemon zest, orange, and pear with the same coriander and clove spiciness with a yeasty, peppery, dry finish. palate is crispy and nicely carbonated but feels more like a spring/summer brew. overall, a decent white ale.

Bottle purchased from the Craft Bottle Store in Philadelphia. Cloudy golden pour with basically no head. Instant aromas of wheat, spice and banana tickle your nose. The taste pretty much stays with the aroma but it finishes crisp and clean. For a wheat beer it is tops.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Wine and Beer Westpark, 12/5/09

Aroma: The nose is made up of lots of lemon zest, some banana, clove, other citrus, wheat, and spice
Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden color with a wispy white head and a little lace on the glass
Flavor: Tastes much like it smells, a moderate sweetness that really lasts
Palate: Has a light body, a nice mouthfeel, and a reasonably long duration
Overall Impression: This is not my favorite style out there, but I do like they way this one works. It is a really solid example of what I’m looking for in a witbeir. Nice classic take on the style, and a good, highly drinkable beer. Not sure why its a winter seasonal, but it makes for a good session regardless of the season. Though I don’t see it as an exclusively winter style beer, I could certainly session this one in the winter...

Location: From Whole Foods in Clarendon/Courthouse, VA

Aroma:
Appearance: Nice cloudy yellow appearance for a Witbier..
Flavor: Light slight banana taste. Good taste for a Hefe.
Palate: Nice and smooth.
Overall Impression: A very solid Witbier - shouldn’t be a seasonal.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. The color is hazy light orange with a medium to light off-white head and carbonation. In general the flavor fairly strong clove and medium orange. Good beer, but nothing extremely special.

Bottle. Poured a hazy yellowish color with a decent off white head. Aroma was malts, clover, yeast, bread, and spices. Flavor was spice, vanilla, and malts. Medium body, light carbonation. Smooth on the palate. Very drinkable beer.

Tried during a recent trip to the Brick Store Pub. Suspiciously, there was no batch number listed on the back in the white box allotted for it. I briefly considered signing my name in it. Appearance: Pours out a near clear, pale yellow body with a smallish, brief, white head. Smell: Bell’s WA doesn’t offer a particularly aromatic bouquet, with only mild notes of barley and wheat with some perfunctory citrus and spice thrown into the mix as well. A bit of a wimpy wit, to be honest. Taste: Sweet tastes of malted barley and lightly tangy wheat lazily bathe the tongue. Mild flavors of citrus peel and coriander. Faint bitterness. Lightly tangy, lightly citrusy finish; there and gone in a flash. It’s one of those simple beers with little to really say about it. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation. Drinkability: Well, for starters, it could benefit from a bit more effervescence in the mouthfeel department, but even still, it’s just rather mild and bland and doesn’t really deliver in terms of a fine, refreshing witbier or a winter-based anything.
