| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 3, 2006 Dark reddish brown, nearly black. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, hints of roast and coffee. Fairly sweet finish with a watery mouthfeel, medium bodied. Overall this came off as ’another’ porter and was one of the least interesting in the sample tray. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2006 Another disappointing appearance. Dark murky brown with minimal to no head. Decent black porter, great balanced roastiness, some nice herbal hoppiness. Tasty chocolate flavor. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 25, 2005 (Draft: Bend Brewing Company in Bend, OR) Roasted coffee and very chocolaty nose doesn’t predict the flavor, as the flavor is much less chocolaty than I was expecting. Rather, it’s roasty and smoky and reminiscent of smoked bacon. Only mildly sweet, the palate is fairly dry, but the medium body is a bit light for my kind of porter. Dark brown in color with ruddy highlights. Tan head gradually fades to a ring, but not before leaving a fair amount of patchy lacing on the glass. Along with their Old Ale, this is probably the best beer I’ve tried from Bend Brewery, but it’s also the only dark beer on the menu, so go figure. IndianaRed (1560), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2005 On Tapat Bend Brewing, poured a deep dark brown with a small light brown head. Spotty lacing. Nice soft roasted aromas and a thin but smooth feel. Lacing the sour bitter burnt flavors of other porters. Nice BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 9, 2005 Sampled draught at Bend Brewing Company, Bend Black, light tan, nose of light roast & soy sauce flavor of more creamy mocha, licorice & chocolate with a smoky undertone. Finishes sharp, could be from the carbonation. Eh. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2005 Brown with ruby hued edges. Brown head and big lacing. Chocolate and roast aromas. Soy and bitter hops. Slightly floral. Chocolate mocha with some roast malts. Not strong though. Bitter hops and coffee. Creamy milky body with a thick finish of chocolate and roast.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 1, 2004 Huge creamy head and a super dark body. The flavor and appearance of this one could pass for a stout. Not alot of bitter malt flavors though, just smooth chocolates and roasted malts (i.e. light coffee flavors). Quite nice. A growler made it back to Seattle in fine shape. Reid (1092), Salem, Oregon, USA
