baobubba (430), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 1, 2004 Huge creamy head and a super dark body. The flavor and appearance of this one could pass for a stout. Not alot of bitter malt flavors though, just smooth chocolates and roasted malts (i.e. light coffee flavors). Quite nice. A growler made it back to Seattle in fine shape. SuzyGreenberg (1067), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 14, 2008 sampled @ brewpub - thin dark brown with slight tan head around the edges; thick aroma mix of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate; creamy texture with lots of chocolate and coffee coming out in the flavors; drinks very smooth and slightly dry; a very nice robust porter TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Nov 11, 2007 Sampled a pint of this one on draught at the brewpub in Bend, OR. This beer pours to a deep brown to black color, with a thick, white head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose is very nice on this beer, with good aromas of chocolate malts, coffee, light roast, and piney hops. The palate is soft, with good dark chocolate and coffee flavors, with light estery notes of currants, and light roast. This beer finishes with good dark chocolate and coffee flavors, then end roasty, with a piney hop bite that lingers on the tongue. Nice, easy drinking, social pint of porter. Good beer to relax with at the bar, and a nice beer to match with the pub grub on the menu. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 8, 2005 Brown with ruby hued edges. Brown head and big lacing. Chocolate and roast aromas. Soy and bitter hops. Slightly floral. Chocolate mocha with some roast malts. Not strong though. Bitter hops and coffee. Creamy milky body with a thick finish of chocolate and roast.
carboloader (301), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 On tap at the Bend pub. Oh yeah, Baby. Pours opaque with medium sized frothy tan head. Nice roasty, malty flavor with coffee notes. Creamy mouth feel. Piney hops kick in for a smooth bitter finish. Yum. I should drink more porters.
