JK (2509), uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 26, 2006 Updated: May 26, 2006Very nice. Gold with a large, long lasting white head. Great floral-hop aroma with a hint of fruit. Crisp and clean flavor; light bitterness. Excellent pilsner; full bodied and a pleasure to drink. On draught at Ferdinanda, Prague. rlgk (3239), Motala, Sweden Sep 21, 2003 (Stockholm Beer Festival 2003)
Very nice golden beer, with a beautiful creamy head. Buttery aroma. Flavor is sweetish and malty. Very good. rickgordon (3080), Göteborg, Sweden Dec 27, 2003 Bottled. Very tasty, Saazy and bready beer. Unfortunately lacking in head, which mostly diminishes once poured. Long duration. Dark gold hue, true looking white head. Medium hoped, very fresh gently sweet. Nice soft hopines with sweet malt. Very good pils nothing overstated nicely balanced.
ClarkVV (3550), Allston, Massachusetts, USA May 20, 2006 Best before bottle 6/30/2006 from Sams in Chicago consumed on 5/12/06. Foamy, huge creamy-ivory head is well-retained, showing light, spotty lacing. Intensely burnished brass body is luminous and shows a flurry of bubbles. Coming after Podkovan, anything is going to smell crisp and highly attenuated (no, but seriously, I actually didnt mind Podkovan). Crisp, mineralic, just plain aromatic (perfect is the only word I can say) styrian goldings explode on the nose with a wonderfully crisp lager yeast. Seems like they lagered this one amply. The flavor is crisp, biting and with that true mineralic water that balances sweet pils malt so wonderfully. I don’t even think this is the most amazing Bohemian Pils, but this is just such an intense style, with such a strong sense of malt and beautiful hops that it’s hard to really relax and see this for what it is.
