This beer is simply put, awsome. It has none of the bland aftertaste or aroma of most availible domestic beers. Dominion Ale is a definite experience and is by far my favorite domestic lager.

Relatively full gold colour, which in Canadian macro terms indicates "old man’s beer". Grainy, malty, slightly fuselly aroma. Light malty flavour with hints of acetaldehyde. Slightly full body for style.

Courtesy of Beermountie- Pale straw pour, capped by a fizzy white head. Grainy corn aromas, matched up with soft watery caramel, and cereal aromas. Sweet metallic corn flavours with a sour tin-ish flavour. Off caramel sweet finish, with an unfortunate carbonation level. Strange. Thanks Tony!

341 ml bottle shared by jerc. Pale golden colour with a fizzy, diminishing white head. Grainy, light corn, and faint fuselly aroma. Grainy flavour dominates, lightly toasty with a moderate bitter finish. Light bodied, fizzy, but not unsubstantial.

Bottle via BeerMountie. Golden yellow bopdy with a small white head. Sweet grainy aroma, slight notes of fusel alcohol? Sweet flavour is grainy with very slight fruit notes. Labatt 50 like, this is probably what many would dub a ’Canadian Ale’. Average palate. Quaffable but a bit dull.

341 ml bottle. Its called Dominion Ale but of course it is a lager. That said it has more aroma and flavour than your regular Molson or Labatt Lager, its not as watered down. It pours a golden yellow with a small white head which quickly disappears. There is a slightly bitter after taste.

Just for info: Molson is not brewing under a different name to pretend to be another brewery. Bennett was actually a well-established brewery in Newfoundland that at one time made Dominion Stout and Lager (I believe). Eventually, as with all breweries in the province, Bennett was taken over by a larger brewery. Many breweries in the province were taken over by Carling, and then later by Labatt and Molson. So, even if it doesn’t attempt to be anything other than a Molson product, at one time Dominion Ale was something else altogether, as were Black Horse, Jockey Club and all the other regional brews now made by the macros. Now the review: Pours pale gold with what appears to be a light green at the edges (and it’s not the glass and I’m holding it up against a white background and the lights are daylight bulbs). Not good. The head is a light layer of foam that disappears pretty quickly. The aroma is like any other Molson beer, but with a hint of apple cider and sweet kid’s bubble gum. None of these are what I pine over. The mouthfeel is dry and watery. The carbonation is normal. Now, the taste: there’s a powerful apple tang in this brew that is so unusual to me. It’s like drinking apple cider to a degree--sweet and tangy. The odd, bitter finish is even overtaken by the tang. I could have just eaten an apple infused with Molson Canadian. Surely not the usual ’ale.’ This time that’s not a good thing. Too bad it’s only valuable as a historical preservation (in label only) of Newfoundland’s old breweries.

This is the best Lager!! It pours a crisp light yellow and has a smooth Malt with enough hop to keep you coming back. No over riding wheat or skunk to speak of, and a clean water fresh taste makes this beer a pleasure for the senses.
