Cask Handpump at the Valley, Scarborough 06/02/2009 Floral aroma. Small white head. Clear golden coloured smooth on the palate and hoppy with a little dryness in a bitter malt finish.

Cask gravity, 2nd Bulkington Beer Festival. Still amber gold. Nose white grape juice, musky hopcone; some wet oaky wood, alcohol, spliff. Rich and full malt character overlaid with citrus and stone fruit. Dryish, slightly boozy and humming softly with citrus hop, grape, mushed-up custard cream, oat and vanilla afters. Satisfying, full and dry. Octo couldn’t leave it alone. Another winner from Beowulf.

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Good balance of fruity lemon hop and some sweeter fruit cake like malt character. Balanced and very drinkable.

Cask handpull at The Hop Pole Inn, Aylesbury, Bucks, 21-07-09 Pours gold with tight white head. There is a little fruit and malt on the nose, these also appear in the mouth. Surprisingly bitter and a bitterness that lingers, the end is rather dry. Really quite enjoyable. A6 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough Market. Lager gold colour, thin white head. Eggy yeasty aroma. In mouth, its still eggy and a not very intense blond ale. Dull and the aroma isnt great.

A Mes rate: cask at the Market Porter. Clean gold, good white head and in very good condition. Slight egg on the nose but it’s just about held in check by some decent citric hoppage. I’d love to say more but the flavour is almost identical other than a lick of earthy malt and a developing bitterness in the finish. Straight forward and a little unimaginative.
