Cask (gravity) @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.
Clear dark brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, chocolate, light roasted. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090806]

A Mes rate. Cask at the Market Porter.
Dark mahogany with a good tan head. Good fruity malt, quite earthy plus some hints of roasted barley. A little one dimensional but nice enough. Good smoky notes in the finsh with an assertive dark fruit character. Not bad.

Cask@GBBF 2009. Opaque black, not much head. Tobacco and burned malts in the nose. Light palate. Some tobacco, toffee and ash in the flavor. A bit on sweet side. Ok winter session beer probably.

Cask@GBBF2009. Deep ambery colour, small head. Aroma is lots of roast, caramel malts as well as some syrupy notes and mild ashes. Flavour is wood, caramel, syrup and some mild earthyness, ashes and also some tobaccolike notes.

Bottle. dark and poured with a big head. Some bitterness and slightly acidic. Traces of roastiness as well. Might have been a good beer

BC, 4.8%. Mahogany with ruby edges and a dimpled, coarse-bubbled beige head going nowhere. Hot bin bag full of ash, apple peel and Allsorts aroma. Liquorice sodden soily mild with blackberry, cinders and coffee grounds. Clinging smoke, dab of mouldering leaf matter, hot choc dustings. Fine ashy refreshment, but Beowulf do better.
