DruncanVeasey (1815), No. 46, Leicestershire, Belgium Sep 8, 2008 Updated: Sep 13, 2008Cask, Tamworth 08. Thinnish pitch with a beige halo but no collar. Charred malts, clinging smoke, a tang of apple strudel fruit. No more coffee than is usual in a beer this roasted. Wouldn’t have picked up on the eponymous hazelnut blind, if I’m honest. Tasty and burnt with mellowing chocolate afters. Solid festival opener, and not the last accomplished smoky dark beer of the weekend from Beowulf.....
