armando629 (434), Budapest, Hungary Jul 10, 2008 An avarage, easy drinkable lager without any exciting experiments...Pale yellow beer with a small white head, floral hop aroma and taste with some sweet malt, bottom-yeast.
drpimento (518), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Sep 20, 2008 Froma a can that I brought back from Romania a couple of months ago and kept chilled. Getting to be the standard comments of the (sub) standard beers found there. Basically very light and little character. Poured with some head and lace. Light yellow in color. Almost no aroma except for a "beery" quality. Same for taste. Thin and watery. Force carbonated. No finish. Forgettable. heavy (503), Split, Croatia Aug 23, 2008 Thanks to Doggythedog, I tasted this from a 0.5 l can. Poured uncarbonated, golden yellow body with smaller head that collapsed immediately. Pretty ugly aroma, malty with some eggy and ugly kind of dusty side effects. Flavor wasn’t better at all! Some strange artificial bitterness with soapy notes, but anyway so watery it’s hard to believe it became so dry in the aftertaste. Cardboard dry. After few sips becomes drinkable somehow but with ugly finish anyway. I expected this is gonna be better than one I’ve tried before, but just the can looked better. Quite bad one. Doggythedog (1020), Split, Croatia Aug 23, 2008 0.5l can courtesy of a friend who lugged it halfway through the Balkans from Romania (huge thanks, Krešimir!) Pale yellow colour, slightly gilded, small white head that went away fast ooh. Sourish cabbagey nose, dusty and eggy maltiness, corn? What the... Worse than the Bergenbier I’ve had earlier and that’s an accomplishment. Odd, plasticey taste. Someone identified that as cheese and that can go too. So does soap. Anyway, some odd off flavor that gets in front of some light hop acidity and some eggy maltiness. All in all, far from clean and not a good pale lager, let alone "pilsener". aroma has some spices in it, slightly sour too. but quite pleasing
poured a giant white head, dwindling fast to a big head. clear yellow.
flavor is slightly roasted which is a suprise. somewhat sweet too. palate is watery for a 5% beer.
overall an intersting brew, but kinda weird. i can’t taste the alc. my first romanian beer, one more blue country for my stats. Saarlander (1459), The Saarland, Germany Aug 5, 2008 A nice gift in a care package from my Mother in Law, Thanks Hilde. Bought in Poland, crossed to Germany, shipped to the US! I drank this on a humid night, Ice cold, nothing wrong with it at all, abit watery, but some more hops than expected, some malt, not a bad drink at all, enjoyed.
