Opaque brown. Small head. Malt aroma, and very good malt flavor with caramel. No malt presence. This is a doppelbock, and a fairly good one comparable to Optimator. Thanks to Akevitt for sharing.

Jul 6, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours dense amber and golden with a lacing tan head. Roasted and dark caramel malt aroma. Flavour is dark roasted malt with a breadish touch and a liqourice note. Smooth chocolate and roasted malt finish.

Jun 24, 2008 Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with odd notes of spices, alcohol, and raisiins, but not bad. The flavor is sweet with notes of brown sugar, alcohol, metal from the alcohol, and over ripe fruits.

Jun 9, 2008 Bottle. High and long lasting creamy light brown creamy head. Clear very dark, red brown body. Roasted barley malt aroma with a heavy scent of caramel but unfortunately nothing else. Sweet roasted barley malt with some spices, too weak, that I cannot figure out. Low carbonation and a short aftertaste. Too weak for a Christmas beer in spite of the high alcohol percentage.

May 26, 2008 Sampled at BDR’s tasting and shared by akevitt. Pours a clear copper brown brew with a thin beige head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and ring. Aroma of caramel malt, roasted nuts, some spicy herbs and a touch of dark pitted fruits. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of sweetened caramel malt, some candi sugar and a touch of roasted nuts. Finish is semi-sweet with a gritty aftertaste of caramel malt and some grassy hop character. Barley wine? Not sure but it is still a nice winter warmer.

May 8, 2008 Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark amber. Aroma and taste are malt, spices and a fair amount of licorice.
