| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 1, 2005 Crystal clear mahogany (looks a bit thin) with a creamy tan head that doesn’t last. Aromas also seemed thin with moderate malts, plum, smoke and alcohol. Flavor... not too much... landing on the sweet side. Too danged watery.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2005 I’m actually highly impressed with this beer, somehow. Crisp clear dark brown, with limited tan head. Aroma of light roasted coffee, cane sugar and a hint of raspberries. Flavor has a very nice roasted malt and burnt toast flavor that adds a load of depth to the very sugary base. A nose of hops adds balance. Not bad. lizziesage (180), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 18, 2005 Dark colored nice malt coffee flavor. Berghoff is a very reasonably priced drinkable beer. Well balanced flavor, smooth. I like Berghoff very much and this is a very good beer. Deserves a better rating than its getting. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 9, 2005 Aroma predominantly consists of chocolate and roasted malts, along with the familiar smell of the Berghoff / Huber brewer’s yeast. Frothy, off-white, 1" thick head, which surprisingly leaves lacing. Flavor consists of tangy chocolate malts; acidic and souring with high metallic scoring. Body is thin, astringent and watered down, like someone put a tray of ice cubes in my bock. At times, it creates a feeling as if my tongue was repeatedly getting scraped by a razor blade. Syrupy and steel-like. Cloying yet watery. Hard to finish. Unforgettable, but not in a good way. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 4, 2005 Famous bock? What kind of notoriety does this claim? Garnet with beige head. Faint aromas of caramel, toffee, malt. Lively carbonation and watery body. Flavor was tolerable. Perhaps a good lawnmower beer. Certainly a cut above BMC. Also not worth the effort. hezron (604), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 20, 2005 On tap at the brewery. My favorite of the 5 I sampled. Dark red-brown with small off white head. Aroma was so-so, hard to pick up off a 4oz plastic cup. Flavor was ok, some roasty caramel malt. Body was a little thin.
