I sort of think of it as a lesser version of Leiny’s Creamy Dark despite the style difference. Certainly not on par with the best of the style but tasty with a healthy dose of malt and hints of caramel and chocolate. A nice alternative to a pils or wheat for the summertime. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2004 This was served on draft as a "seasonal" at the Chicago Berghoff’s restaurant, so it may be a different beer than the bottled. When tapped, delivers a nice, cascading head that leaves neat rings of foam as the glass emmpties. A very inviting dark brown beer in the glass, with the taste of a fine dark malt character. Mostly a brown sugary taste with a hint of fruit complexity (yeast?). No bitter or astringent taste for a beer this dark. Finishes a bit on the light side, but very, very drinkable. djmcfar (64), Ixonia, Wisconsin, USA

It's full bodied and has a hint of complexity. If you don't have the dough to go pro, this is a good choice. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 30, 2003 Burgandy color with a medium tan head. Light caramel aroma. Flavor starts light and sweet with a fizzy mouth feel finishing lightly tangy and dry. Not bad, an average american bock. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2003 This was a good beer, but it needs more flavor in my opinion and if it had I would have given it a higher overall rating. It poured an average sized tan head that contained fine-small sized bubbles that mostly dissipated. The body was carbonated and clear with a brown hue.The nose consisted of malt and caramel with the same for the flavor and maybe a hint of chocolate. The mouthfeel was thin, a bit watery, smooth and medium bodied.
