| 0.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 2/5 | 1/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Aug 4, 2005 Updated: Aug 23, 2005On tap at the Berghoff Cafe at the O’hare International Airport. Not good at all. Really. The smell reminded me of a litter box, with some caramel. Im not just making that up. I sat there for five minutes after I was served trying to get a decent whiff of this thing. It was more of a dirty golden color that amber or red highlights. The flavor was just kind of a mish mash of stuff. Nothing stood out. No structure. Please avoid this beer. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 1, 2005 Bottle from a sampler pack: More amber than red with a small fizzy off-white head that produced okay lacing. The aroma has notes of bready and caramel malts, grassy hops, apple and pear, a light white pepper. The taste is a bit acidic and bitter followed closely by a bready and yeasty background. Almost no depth on the palate but also no off-flavors either. The finish does have some bitter notes as well as a hint of hop spice. The feel is lively but does get a bit chalky after a while. A solid brew and among the better beers I have had from this Huber line. Dad though it okay but seemed put off by the acidic initial taste. It is not a pale ale, I would call it an Ale and leave it at that. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 27, 2005 12 oz bottle - Poured deep amber with not much head. Aroma is of malts and a touch of spice. Flavor is quite malty. Hearty and robust for a beer of this color. Not much in the way of hops though. On the palate this is medium bodied and overall average in all ways. mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 26, 2005 Does not have the horrid aftertaste of most pale ales. It tastes a lot more like an Irish Red beer, Killians etc. Nice flavor, but overall not outstanding. Berghoff is a good brand overall. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 16, 2005 Pour is red, I’ll give them that. No head at all and aroma is cherry-berry. Flavor turns out to be a nice rosted malt but nothing else. This one is super malty! Overall not bad if you like a malty brew. A bit more hops and this could have been a winner. gws57 (1144), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2005 Had this one bottled. A nice red, although not as flavorful as many others, certainly refreshing. Nice copper color, thin head, nice and hoppy.
