It’s sweet, malty and caramelly with a slight candy sugar note. Light to medium bodied and smooth. delmecum (87), Western Illinois, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 13, 2005 Another beer drank at the brewery. Simple at best. Had a nice look to begin with, but wasn’t a whole lot to it. Boring, take a pass unless you can get just a bottle or a sample glass. Ughsmash (4098), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 8, 2005 Tap at brewery. Clear deep red pour with a short off-white head. Nice tiny-bubbled lacing as it went down. Sweet roasted malts on the aroma, but very weak and non-distinct. Somewhat cola-like mouthfeel, yet the flavors managed to find their way around. Flavor was surprisingly good... picked up a little dark fruit, some caramel, and had an underlying roastiness. Finish was short and sweet. garrison (461), Cin. city, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 1, 2005 From a bottle - Yeah, it’s dark... and that just about ends it for a description of the distinctiveness of this beer. It poura a white head, has a slight malty aroma, and is in every way unremarkable. Eh, it’s better than Bud-Miller-Coors, I guess, but not by much. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2005 A nice red color, but almost headless. This reminds me for some reason of a baltic porter or schwarzbier. Sweet, but with more crisp and bite than other darks. Not complicated, but enjoyable. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 23, 2005 Very clear, amber to brown. Shines nicely, muted copper and oranges below a whiteish head. The aroma is malty, and noticabely roasted and toasty but not special. Flavor is also malty but a bit sweet at the same time. In actuallity it’s a bit too sweet. Some roasted malt and a sweet, almost wine based, fruitness come in but don’t mask the sweetness enough. Tmoney99 (4802), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 19, 2005 Bottle 12 oz. Dark brown hue with a small rocky off-white head that fully diminished. Moderate malt and light hop aroma. Moderate sweet and light bitter flavor with short finish. Light to medium body with astringent finish. BBB63 (4280), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 7, 2005 Bottle and served in a pint glass:
Reddish brown hue with a fading fizzy head and minimal lacing. The aroma has notes of bready and chocolate malt, floral hops, a touch of coffee, and a hint of plum. The taste is a straight forward offering of sweet malt and subdued fruit. The bitterness is mostly in the background with just fleeting notes of coffee and hops. The feel matched the rest of the beer, no-hum. Overall, it is just your basic dark lager with nothing offensive yet nothing exciting either. As average as average can get.
