| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 14, 2009 Pours cola brown, thin head, Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, mild dark fruits. Falvor echoes the aroma, malty sweetness begins, quickly balanced by a moment of hop pepper, dark cerry flavors, and a dry finish. All of these Berghof beers taste pretty much the same. nuplastikk (1218), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 19, 2009 12oz bottle. Filtered caramel amber caramel color with an off white minimal head. Mild yet odd macro-dunkel aroma. The taste is sugary sweet, a touch pungent. Crisp initial mouthfeel fades into a sweet, smooth finish. No real hop character gets through the syrupy malt. This is pretty bad, not unlike a cheap Slavic beer. Baumgartner (108), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 5, 2009 Gifted to me by Drew for my birthday. Bottle poured to glass. Brown brew with highlights of copper on glass in the light. Small white head. Aroma of maple and heavly roasted malts. Creamy full mouthfeel. Tastes of heavy roast grains very well balanced with the bitters of hops in the aftertaste. hogan873 (334), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 3, 2009 Meh. Cola-like in appearance. There is a slight white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is sweet and light. Some caramel for sure. Highly carbonated...maybe a bit too much. Flavor is okay up front. A little hoppy bitterness. That gives way to some artificial sweetness. The finish is a little sticky, like burnt sugar. Not a great beer. popephred (193), Plainfield, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 29, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a dark caramel colored body topped with a small head of off-white foam (good retention). Light malt aroma, and not much else. Initial bitter flavor, followed by a burnt caramelized taste. The texture of the beer is slightly oily, ending finally with a sweet finish and bitter burnt sugar on the sides of tongue. Overall, the experience wasn’t awful, but this is not my favorite Berghoff, to say the least. Earlier Rating: 11/26/2008 Total Score: 2.2 Found in the bargain bin at Dominick’s, for $1.98 a six-pack. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a dark caramel colored body topped by a small, quickly diminishing head of off-white foam. Weak malt aroma, not offensive, not much of anything. Sharp effervescence, with a sweet flavor that diminishes quickly, leaving a slight bittersweet aftertaste. The palate is on the sweet side, favoring the malts, though I couldn’t pick up much else due to the carbonation. I think that this isn’t too bad, and was worth the bargain bin price, though it certainly doesn’t rank highly in my book... kwoeltje (1326), Manchester, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2008 (bottle) medium brown/dark amber with small tan head. Faint malty aroma. Flavor is biscuity malt, on the sweet side. mcjay (303), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 9, 2008 Deep brown/copper color with a rocky white head that dissipated fast. Flavor and aroma are almost non existent. Some light chocolate and fruity notes with a dry roasted but mild finish. This brew isn’t terrible but it’s extremely watered down.

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 3, 2008 Bottle. Not a good dunkel. The taste and smell were watered down. Burnt taste to the beer. Over carbonated in my opinion.
