Commercial Description:
This deep mahogany Euro-style lager has a nice balance of malts and hops, which lend to the full-flavored body and mild aroma. It has a pleasantly malt-fruity palate, with touches of chocolate, and some hoppy bitterness coming through at the end. The dark beer was rated as "One of the Top 100 Beers in the World" by Wine Enthusiast magazine, won the Silver Medal in the 1993 Great American Beer Festival and the Silver Medal in the 2002 World Beer Championships.

on tap at Ohara Airport. Not much different from Amber Ale. A little more earthy and certainly darker but similar.

This is pretty terrible. Murkey dark color, barely any aroma. Slightly toasted taste, though not much there. Yeah, it’s better than most macros, so?

From a bottle. Amber colored beer that pours with a thin, off-white head that quickly fizzes away. Aroma is weak, sweet and malty. Flavor is primarily sweet and malty, with a bit of toasted malt taste and a faint but pleasant hops flavor at the end. Not terribly flavorful, but very well balanced. Beer seems almost flat in the glass, but carbonation feels very active on the tongue. Tasty beer that goes down well, though there are better choices in this category.

On tap at the restaurant: The special of the night...this was titled Dark Knight and came with a bourbon chaser. This had nice roasted and chocolate flavors that was round and soft in the mouth. Much better than the Lager but still a bit below average for what we have available to us in Chicago.

Pours clear amberish brown with a small off-white head that dissipates almost immediately leaving no lacing. The smell is fairly subtle with a toasted, slightly malt backbone with a hint of yeast. The taste is a little more complex than the aroma with the toasted malts still forming the backbone but with a little bit of caramel and dark fruits. The finish is slightly toasted. The mouthfeel is extremely crisp and clean with strong carbonation. This is a pretty tasty lager and quite drinkable.

This reddish- brown hued libation carries an off white head that quickly dissapates. Aroma is of hops. Mild and creamy on the palate and nicely carbonated. Taste carries hints of chocolate and malt, not bitter. A good beer but not overly distinct. Pairs well with sandwiches made with rye or pumpernickle bread accompanied by a big kosher dill pickle.

12oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma is malty and light. Flavors of sweet malt, caramel , and some light hop notes in the finish. Light body, very livly carb, watery texture, and smooth dry feel. Great price on a good lager.
