Commercial Description:
This deep mahogany Euro-style lager has a nice balance of malts and hops, which lend to the full-flavored body and mild aroma. It has a pleasantly malt-fruity palate, with touches of chocolate, and some hoppy bitterness coming through at the end. The dark beer was rated as "One of the Top 100 Beers in the World" by Wine Enthusiast magazine, won the Silver Medal in the 1993 Great American Beer Festival and the Silver Medal in the 2002 World Beer Championships.

Pours clear amberish brown with a small off-white head that dissipates almost immediately leaving no lacing. The smell is fairly subtle with a toasted, slightly malt backbone with a hint of yeast. The taste is a little more complex than the aroma with the toasted malts still forming the backbone but with a little bit of caramel and dark fruits. The finish is slightly toasted. The mouthfeel is extremely crisp and clean with strong carbonation. This is a pretty tasty lager and quite drinkable.

This reddish- brown hued libation carries an off white head that quickly dissapates. Aroma is of hops. Mild and creamy on the palate and nicely carbonated. Taste carries hints of chocolate and malt, not bitter. A good beer but not overly distinct. Pairs well with sandwiches made with rye or pumpernickle bread accompanied by a big kosher dill pickle.

12oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma is malty and light. Flavors of sweet malt, caramel , and some light hop notes in the finish. Light body, very livly carb, watery texture, and smooth dry feel. Great price on a good lager.

(Bottle, courtesy of Swalden_28) Pours a deep amber body with a small beige head. Aroma of cola, prunes, toastiness, and some sulfur. Flavor of toasted (somewhat burnt) grain, light smoke, caramel malt, and dark fruit. Very sweet.

Bottle, thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a dark clear amber with off-white head, ok retention. Aroma was very nice, caramel, fruit, with nice hops. Flavor is of caramel, dark fruit, light hop flavor with nice light bitter. High carbonation with light-med. body....tatsy beer.

Pours a dark ruby brown with a finger of rapidly dissipating off-white head. Odor of sweet malt. Very watery mouthfeel that goes into a bit of a caramel taste with a slightly bitter aftertaste. A somewhat underwhelming beer, but a passable session beer.

this beer pours a dark brown with little to no head. Not a memorable beer. Cheers!

bottle picked up at wal-mart in clinton, MO. pours a deep amber with beige head and good retention. aroma was sweet with caramel and some hops. flavor was just as good as the aroma with caramel and hops. i think i might have picked up a hint of toffee. the carbonation is high. i was really surprised this was as good as it was.
