Commercial Description:
Berghoff Hefe Weizen is a smooth tasting, unfiltered Wheat Beer brewed in traditional Bavarian style, using both Two-Row Barley and Wheat Malt. The cloudy appearance of the Hefe-Weizen is caused by the Vitamin B-Complex carrying top fermented yeast in the finished product.

Hazy light yellow color with very little head. How can you make a wheat beer with no head? Does have the clove(mainly) and banana nose character of a German Hefe. Lots of clove in the flavor, with some banana. The yeast sediment was much harder to stir up than most Hefes. There was a lot of it, however. It does taste like a Paulaner lite. And much easier to drink. Would be more refreshing, but the lack of carbonation is a serious defect in this beer style. Still, it is cheaper and fresher than its German counterparts(or American for that matter) which counts for something. The only Berghoff beer I’ve tried that doesn’t taste like a base plain lager with some flavors added later.

I have to hand it to Huber for making Berghof so much more than the everyday macro. I talked to the rep at the festival in which I tried all of these and he was unapologetic about representing, average and mostly-to-style cheap beers. If only more Coors/miller/bud people would just try something like this hefe. It’s cloudy and bright with a touch of banana in the nose. Very light bodied and thin, it offers hefe yeast flavor through a thin watery vehicle. A plus about this beer is that it is much fresher than many of the true German hefes that sit on the shelf next to it at 1/4th the price per bottle. Not bad, a thin bodied example using authentic ingredients. I can’t be mad at them.

12 oz bottle-new label! pours golden yellow with minimal hazyness. the head was highly carbonated at first, but the body shows very light carbonation. aroma of bananas, lemons, acidic, clove, sweaty underwear and slightly buttery. Oh God! the flavors were not good either. It has that signature Berghoff diacytl thing going again. Mangled flavors of cardboard, banana and butter. watery palate and a cream corn finish. For berghoff’s highest rated beer, im not impresed one bit!

Hazy blonde wth a creamy white head, and a pleasant aroma of bubble gum and cloves. In mouth, less remarkable, bananas and some lactic acid/lemon. Creamy in mouth and in general very palatable. Would be nice to compare with Blanche de Chambly.

If you want it cloudy you need to stir the last ounce otherwise it is remarkably clear. Nice light foamy head. Very nice aroma of yeast, cloves and banana. Very strong banana flavour. Yeast is muted. A slight spice zestiness. Flavour was overall very soft. Palate was nice.

Frothy white head, hazy gold/orange body. Sweet orange and banana aroma with clove touches. Sour/citrusy banana flavor. Once you get past the sourness (which isn’t that hard), there is an interesting palate that is a bit too sweet and has some kind of stale off-flavor. Not quite sure what to make of it, but overall it isn’t too bad.
