Commercial Description:
Berghoff Hefe Weizen is a smooth tasting, unfiltered Wheat Beer brewed in traditional Bavarian style, using both Two-Row Barley and Wheat Malt. The cloudy appearance of the Hefe-Weizen is caused by the Vitamin B-Complex carrying top fermented yeast in the finished product.

Slightly cloudy golden color with a small white head. Some citrus in the nose. Light body with not much taste. This is not my favorite style, but there is not much here.

12 oz bottle. that white head vanished quick. no lace. cloudy, orange, initially light. little carbination which I like once in a while. The finish was sweet with some alcohol. This is where I lowered the grade. Some bitterness in the finish also.

Bottle. Citrus and light coriander and bubblegum dust to compliment the yeasty nose. Golden pour with a sticky white head, but not really up to Hefe-standards. Medium-strong visicarb. Tasted carbonation is too strong, and the taste begins and ends with metal. Phenols are too strong and there’s a touch of butter. Stale and thin, with little wheat or yeast to discern.

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear yellow color rather than the cloudy yellow I yearn for when I get a hefe. The aroma was way off. It smelled like grape cany, light caramel, and apple. No banana, no clove, no bread dough. The kicker is that the flavor was almost exactly the same. Not only that...it was watery and thin. I can’t believe this one was up in the 65th percentile overall when I rated it. It’s a terrible hefe. Tasted more like a bad pale ale.

Hazy body, and a head that almost completely disappeared. Aroma was like diluted cider vinegar. Initial flavors of citrus and yeast, and there’s hint of banana in the aftertaste. Just average for the style.

Far better than most of the rest of the sampler box. Hazy gold pour typical to style. Faint trace of bananas and cloves in the nose. A little yeast, wheat, and banana on the tongue. Medium mouthfeel.

Lightly hazed bright golden colour with a frothy white head. The nose is yeasty with a splash of citrus and nice banana notes and just a hint of mint. The body is nicely spritzy with a solid amount of sweet yeast and a fine spiciness. There is a light bitterness towards the end. Overal the body is a bit timid and a bit sweet, but it’s a nice hefe-weizen, especially for the states.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with JCapriotti (thanks!). Poured a medium and slightly hazy golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of bananas, cloves, and citrus. Tastes of wheat, cloves, and bananas. On the thinner side.
