Commercial Description:
Berghoff Hefe Weizen is a smooth tasting, unfiltered Wheat Beer brewed in traditional Bavarian style, using both Two-Row Barley and Wheat Malt. The cloudy appearance of the Hefe-Weizen is caused by the Vitamin B-Complex carrying top fermented yeast in the finished product.

Pours out a nice golden colour followed by a light but active head. Scent is strongly of wheat and yeasty esters. Taste is strongly of yeast, wheat and banana ester and finishes with a backdrop of banana ester sweetness. A very drinkable Hefe- Weizen beer.

I was nicely surprised by this beer. Picked up a 6 pak @ $5.99. Didn’t expect much. I wouldn’t call this a classic German Hefeweizen. I would call it a fine summer wheat beer. Some nice citrus aroma and taste. Not as yeasty as the typical heavier German Hefeweizen. But it is a very pleasing drink.

Not a bad hefeweizen for Huber. It has the classic look, a hazy straw body with a good sized head. The aroma is full of banana and bubblegum with a touch of clove. Lively, spritzy mouthfeel. The flavor is a soft wheat with banana, clove, and a light lemon twist in the finish. I like it, and frankly I’m surprised, considering what’s been brewed under The Berghoff name the past few years.

Looks quite carbonated, though this dissipates after a few minutes. The aroma is rather sweet, and just as others have suggested, there is a hint of banana, definitely unique. The flavor is well balanced between sweet and wheaty sour. Quite smooth. Great beer.

lots of citrus and banana flavor. i was pretty surprised at how good this is since i’ve typically stayed away from berghoff. not particularly complex or interesting, but definitely a beer i’d drink on a sunny summer afternoon.

Pours cloudy pale yellow with a moderate sized head. Aroma is rich sweet malt with a good deal of banana. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Starts off malty and rich, but a sharp metallic taste comes into play quickly. The acidic metallic taste takes over and is all that is left on the finish. Further down the glass the finish gets a little better, but not to where I would like it to be. This has a lot of nice elements to it. Not a bad overall beer, but if the finish was mellowed out this would be a very nice hefe.

Pours light golden and cloudy with a fully receding white bubbly head. Aroma of banana, soft wheat, bread dough, and sugar cookies. Taste is sweet with plenty of fruity esters, notes of banana, bubble gum, and tart wheat malt. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with soft, wimpy carbonation that is quite unusual for a weizenbier. Not a bad beer, it’s actually quite refreshing. This is just a bit rough around the edges, it would not be difficult to tweak the process and recipe to make this an awesome beer.
