Commercial Description:
Amber colored, all-malt-lager, which possesses a modest bitterness and clean aroma. Crafted in the traditional Bavarian manner and resembles the Marzen-type Oktoberfest Biers as they are served at the fall festivities in Munich. It won the Gold Medal in the 2002 World Beer Championships.

Pours amber with a creamy tan head. Taste is sweet, caramel, with toffee. Some nuttiness. Hops are mild and grassy. There is a hint of mustiness and a slight metallic twang that are not pluses. Finishes clean. Not bad.

Sampled from tap on 11/11/2006 at the Joseph Huber Brewery in Monroe, Wisonsin... Clear, amber color with a big, foamy beige head. Aroma and flavor are slightly sweet and malty with hints of caramel and roasted malts. Smooth and pretty clean on the palate. A decent Oktoberfest, but nothing special or memorable. On a side note: I am glad that I was able to visit the Joseph Huber Brewing Company and take a tour of the facility. It is the second oldest brewery in America, but has recently been bought by a Canadian and will be renamed to Minhas Craft Brewery...

Clear amber color, with a decent beige head. No real lacing. Pleasant, slightly sweet malt aroma. Semi-sweet flavor, with just the right amount of bitterness. The palate is smooth, like many Oktoberfests, but this one seems a bit lighter than others. Very clean finish. Extremely drinkable.

Nice clear amber body with a sizeable off-white head. The aroma is warm, buttered toast with a drop or two of caramel. Nicely carbonated. The flavor remains toasty and sweet, some pears showing up, and an addition of a light earthy bitterness that lasts into the finish. Not too bad.

From a bottle purchased in Madison, WI. The body is a medium amber with a slightly off white head. The aroma has some pears and some sweet potatoes. The taste has some light sweet potato with some fall leaves. There is also a little bit of toffee. This is a decent and smooth Oktoberfest.

Sample from a bottle at Binny’s "Fall Festival of BEERS." Nice smooth Oktberfest. Malty, nutty flavor. Light amber-orange color.

Had this one bottled at the Binny’s Oktoberfest in St. Charles, Illinois. Deep orange pour with a light, tannish head. Carmelly malty nose with some bready notes throughout, lightly hopped, well balanced. Good!

Rich creamy aromatic bouquet of blended lemon spice, phenolic sweet fruits including piquant kumquats, yuzu rind and a distant edge of slightly skunked dusty malt. Surprisingly enticing! Clear golden fringed amber-orange cored pour, with effusive carbonation and a rocky, lacy, fading head of banana cream. Flavor is edging thin, with a corn heavy malt edge, dopple with cream and sweet fruit malt sugars of canned pineapple and raisin pudding. Airy. I believe this would be refreshing. Stewed plum phenols collide in the end with a long parch of grass stems. Not as fulfilling of a flavor as someone would ask for from an Octoberfest. Definite apple skins in the smack. I’m starved for this style and it rings better than Leine’s abominal version, so it may have gotten a little extra from me.
