Commercial Description:
Amber colored, all-malt-lager, which possesses a modest bitterness and clean aroma. Crafted in the traditional Bavarian manner and resembles the Marzen-type Oktoberfest Biers as they are served at the fall festivities in Munich. It won the Gold Medal in the 2002 World Beer Championships.

Not as bitter as some but it has a nice (if a little weak) flavor. Not better then say Hacker Pschorre or Pauliner but refreshing. I notice the water this company uses is very fresh tasting.

Solid clear amber, fading white fizzy head. Sweet grainy aroma. Hm. More sweet grains in taste. Smooth, perhaps a bit sweet for a whole bottle. A pretty good Oktoberfest. Not big, but not bad.

Draft at brewery. Clear amber pour with a light off-white head. Wheat and light caramel on the aroma, but rather subdued. Caramel provided much of the flavor, backed by some general toastiness and some bright hops toward the finish. This was missing the complexity of most other Oktoberfests that I have tried.

On tap that the Berghoff Oktoberfest event in Chicago. Average white long lasting head with good lacing. Clear medium-body amber colored beer with a clean malty aroma. Starts with a nutty malty flavor and finishes with a light hop bitterness of average duration. an enjoyable Oktoberfest beer, especially with a bratwurst.

This is a fairly good Marzen. There is a sweet, bock-like aroma. The beer is dark brown. Flavors of malt; somewhat sweet at room temperature.

12 oz bottle - Poured amber with a nice fluffy offwhite head. Aroma of caramel malts. Flavor was pretty much one dimensional as well. All caramel malts. On the palate this is medium bodied with quite a bit of carbonation to make it feel light and fluffy in the mouth.
