Corn and dirt. this does not look appetizing. Taste is sweet, corny. Clean and unoffensive. Very little hops. antisnobJP (275), St. Michael, Minnesota, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 21, 2004 Pale yellow with no head and mild carbonation. Very faint aroma, with some corn and wet wood present. Tastes corny sweet with no hop flavors but enough bittering hops to dry it out and keep it from being cloying. Actually has a little more mouthfeel than the other Berghoff watery beers. Remindes me of Grain Belt Premium only slightly drier and less clean in the aftertaste. Not something to seek out, but would drink again for free. GrainBeltGuzzler (249), Goodhue, Minnesota, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2004 Clear yellow color, slim, but persistent head of foam, turns to a mere whitish ring. Aroma: flat, dry, nothing much.
Taste: a trifle sweet, cornish, the malt seems in charge here (certainly, any amount of hops are left unspoken), and plays thickly on the palate for a stretch. Just a little bit tasty, and then it cloys for a second, and them, oddly, I forgive it. It’s for people who think "beer" comes in only one variety, and if it tastes like this, much better than the alternatives. Still, a drab, one-dimensional affair, strictly meant for those who like such things.
I’d drink one if foisted on me, and with little choice available, but it’s nothing to set the woods on fire, folks.

Sharp and bitter flavor is detectable, but not pronounced. Solid body, but nowhere near real fresh German lager. Frank (1068), Chicago, Illinois, USA
