Scubatrip (387), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Nov 4, 2009 From the bottle, pours a clear red like cranberry juice. Aroma is sweet though thin. Taste is rather disappointing. There’s a hint of holiday spices, but mostly a darker version of a brewpub’s obligatory blond ale. I’m not a fan of this one. MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 16, 2009 Gift from my Wisconsin hook up. Thanks Jamie. Ehh. The amber pour looked nice. Some caramel malts in aroma and flavor were noticable. It was ok. markas101 (541), Fargo, North Dakota, USA Sep 10, 2009 33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Pale amber, rather than red. Smells of fake caramel and tastes the same. Too sweet. drowland (1348), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 21, 2009 Hmmm... had this awhile back and wasn’t impressed, but I’m usually not by Berghoff. Confusing name, thin, weak, etc. GJF (480), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Jul 21, 2009 Hmmm, Bock? Ale? Aren’t the two actually opposed? Plenty of malt, but unbalanced and thin. Not for me. kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Jun 27, 2009 Bottle. Aroma is malty, some chocolate and coffee notes, little spice or character. Brownish red with a thin, light lacing off-white head. Flavor is mild, malty with little to no hops and a bitter light roast finish. A bit sweet. Medium bodied.
6ROW (243), corpus christi, Texas, USA Jun 20, 2009 copper pour small white head .aroma of light roasted malts sweet taste. not bad badgerben (3584), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Mar 12, 2009 Courtesy of Skyview. Clear brown color with a thin head. Sweet malt and caramel aroma, although a little metallic. An oddly astringent malt taste up front. It mellows out into a very dusty grain flavor, a bit of toasted and chocolate malt coming along.
