| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 16, 2007 Though it to be less hoppy then the normal Red Ale, very similar perhaps with a better palate. Doesn’t taste like a real bock to me, more again like a typical red ale. That said it’s just as good as their regular red ale. The aroma on Berghoff isn’t too strong, but the colors are very, very nice k2 (146), USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 5, 2007 Heavier red beer. Has a sharp hop taste mixed within the malt flavor. More body than their red ale. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Bottle. Sweet thinnish caramel nose with dusty brown sugar and a dash of malt. Dark red body with a tan head. Harsh and slightly metallic caramelly taste with a dark, dry caramel and light roast finish. Medium body, slightly overcarbonated, and no sense of promised fruit. Stale and boring. Drainsies. gws57 (1137), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Found this one bottled in St. Charles, thanks Arnie! Dark copper pour, sharpness of citrus in the nose, baked bread and alcohol throughout. I wasn’t terribly impressed. drpimento (824), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 28, 2007 nice head, some lace, decent brownish color. first thing I noticed was over carbonation, thiness, some malty caramel. typical berghoff yawn. GeneralGao (3057), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 2, 2007 12 oz bottle. Clear orange brown pour with a lasting off white head. Not unattractive. Delicate aromas of light brown sugar, a touch of dried cherry, and a bit of malty caramel. Smells nice. Once it touches your lips and tongue things start to fall apart. It’s as fruity as a beer can be without having any fruit in it. Like a mixture of grape candy and dried fruits, but dry. Mouth feel is thin and watery. All in all it’s actually very similar to the Berghoff Famous Bock. A let down for the most part. twindadplus2 (415), Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 10, 2006 Bottle. Deep brown color with a decent, foamy light tan head. Aroma is a slightly sour mix of grain and hops. Tastes of sweet grains and hops bitterness with a little bit of malt in the finish. On the verge of medium bodied but with a watery mouthfeel that doesn’t work very well. Not a terrible beer but just doesn’t measure up to the really good ones. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Reddish amber colored body, faux-frothy light tan head.
Aroma is stale grains, sweetened generic maibock-like hops.
Sweet stale wheat crackers in the flavor and light German-esque brewpubby hops. Hidden caramel malt in there too.
Okay beer, but it’s a still a Berghoff.
