prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Apr 19, 2008 Pretty good, but nothing special. Served from the tap in a g-d d-amn frozen shaker, so flavor might have been altered. Looks nice, with a red body and thick head. Flavor is nice and very Bock-ish, but not overwhelming and actually quite pleasant.
Cornfield (4409), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 14, 2008 The further this brand-line gets from its origins in Chicago, the crappier the beers get.
Other folk who remember the restaurant’s fresh beers of days gone will agree with me.
This thing has a good look, a rich amber body, albeit with a modest white head. The aroma is very sweet caramel with a liberal dousing of mineral water. Only the flat dullness of the flavor keeps the suggested sweetness from the nose from getting cloying. An all-around dippy excuse for a bock.
jebert (60), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA Jul 13, 2008 Pours red-brown crowned by a tan head. Coffee, malt and carmel greet the nose. Creamy on the palate, the taste is of roast malt and toffee with fairly hoppy finish. A satisfying thirst quencher that can be enjoyed all year long. Narnad (167), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Jun 22, 2008 Poured from a bottle red with a little brown mixed in, no head and very fine carbonation. Aromas are of alcohol, strong malt and sweet fruit. Smells a lot like merlot wine. Flavor starts off of sweet carmel malt, moves into a plum flavor and ends with a very smooth, almost slippery feeling, sugary nectarine/peach flavor on the tip of your tongue. I was quite surprised at this beer and will definitely get this one next time its in season. Headbanger (1012), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jun 17, 2008 12oz bottle-A dark ruby red body with a huge off white head which has an aroma of malt and the typical Berghoff aroma. Taste is of malt, caramel, sweetness, and has a dry finish. Not bad but a little watery. phishpond417 (1521), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 8, 2008 This medium bodied brew pours a reddish brown colour with a thin white head full of sweet malted aromas. It has a light silky mouthfeel for a winter bock.
