MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 16, 2009 Gift from my Wisconsin hook up. Thanks Jamie. This was an interesting beer. Had fdefinite charecter. Definite orange peel, sweet malt taste. A bit watery but not bad. noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 7, 2009 Clear gold, thin white head with temporary spots of lace. Aroma features gumball and sweet corn, very pale lager like. Flavor mildly sweet, same gumball component, slightly sharp carbonic edge. The citrus might be there somewhere, the coriander seems wholly imaginary. Nonetheless an OK cream ale. Medium body, somewhat spritzy on the palate. triguy84 (54), Fitchburg, Wisconsin, USA Sep 2, 2009 Clear straw color, thick white foam head that sticks around - should be cloudy. A kind of spicy wheat aroma, maybe fruitiness. Low wheat sweetness, hints of the spicy like the aroma. The spiciness maybe coriander. Light bodied, no hops in flavor. I like it, makes me wonder whats the difference between a Wit and American wheat. slitcher (87), Freeport, Illinois, USA Aug 31, 2009 Pours an extremely pale gold. Not much aroma, tatses like somebody emptied half of the bottle and replaced the emptied beer with water. This is terrible! drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 25, 2009 12oz bottle into a wheat glass. Nothing special, but much better than they’re regular hefe. tmoreau (527), Lombard, Illinois, USA Jul 29, 2009 On tap At Otto’s Bar and Grill in Lombard, IL. Pint served a hazy straw hue with dense, white foam and streaky lacing. The aroma was soft grain/wheat, a touch of spice and banana peanuts. The flavor was similar with some creaminess to the tongue, very light, almost watery thin body, a hint of soapiness and a touch of dryness in the finish. Went south after the aroma. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 8, 2009 Poured hazy orange/gold...maybe someone dropped a bit of Metamucil into the mash....small dull white creamy cap which leaves long lasting sticky ropy lacing. Decent bubbs. Aroma is persistant. Warm and yeasty with tasty bananas and smells fresh and dry. Taste comes second to the aroma, no question there. Good blend of flavours though: solid dry and abundant wheat and yeast, some fruitiness with lemon being the biggest contributor. Light flavourful hop spice and some sweet candy near the end. Mellows out the emptier my glass gets. Finishes with a notable wateriness which a bit of a let down. Mouthfeel is mild, fairly smooth, light to medium bodied. A touch flat. Needs more carbonation. Finishes with a sourness that drops off to a soft dryness. Best Berghoff brew I’ve had period. Cirrhosis (607), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 7, 2009 Very pale gold, maybe even a slightly burnt look to the beer to, there is a mild haze in the beer not the cloudiness I was expecting, a small white head caps off the beer and it disappeared in a manner of seconds, very poor looking brew indeed. The aroma is wheat, slight sourness very mild smelling beer, there seems to be some detectable banana but nothing special. Taste is smooth and wheaty, lots of yeast and a fresh squeezed orange juice flavor is noticeable . A very strange marshmallow after taste is left in my mouth after every sip and I like it, the mouth feel is full but overly carbonated in my opinion, it leaves a burning sensation in the throat when swallowed. Not bad but slightly disappointing for a witbier, I might have let this sit in my fridge to long before drinking, I’m surprised this scored so low.
