MrRomero (1913), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Nov 29, 2004 Very dark brown pour with a large tan head. Sweet, mild apple cider aroma. Light roasted malt and fruity in the flavor with some grain/cereal tastes. Light alcohol finish. JorisPPattyn (4642), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 11, 2006 Red-brown tinted, very dark beer; paler beige head. Perfumed Belgian chocolates nose, with alcohol, rainwater, grassy. Sweet, faint chocolate powder, blackberry sauce flavours. No alcohol taste, except blended into the sweetness. Past this sweetness, however, the rest is pretty neutral, not much individual characteristics. Warming up, more bready notes in the finish. Bit burning MF, well bodied. Nothing very distinctive. OK beer, just a bit disappointing and too sweet IMO for a porter of whatever kind. Bov (4744), Bienne, Switzerland Feb 24, 2008 courtesy of Laurent Mousson; labelled Lausitzer Strong Porter -clear dark brown colour, little beige foam; slightly toasted, aroma of caramel and not much more; good malt body, very sweet; late bitterness and quite dry; notes of alcohol and ashes in the finish - simplistic dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany Jun 16, 2005 Bottled. Dark red colour. Quickly diminishing, lightly brown head. Caramelly, roastmalty and somewhat coffeeish taste. Roastmalty, caramelly, sweet taste with notes of coffee. This was quite good and most importantly earning the name porter unlike its lighter brother Lausitzer Porter, which is more like a malzbier. Quack-Duck (1978), Bodensee, Germany Mar 25, 2008 bottle, thank you MoritzF! Clear dark brown colour, medium-size head. Intensive malty aroma. Full-bodied, intensive malty flavours dominate, hints of dark chocolate and caramel, roasted malt as well. Oily, tastes almost like liquid chocolate with a touch of booze.
