Flavour was sweet with roasted malt, brett and hints of lacto. Flavour had lacto, brett and hard roasted malt. I knew it this style would work so well. Nice one. MiP (9093), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Bottle. Good bretty aroma, fruity, berrylike, quite unexpected. Almost black colour, red shine. Small stable light brown head. Good citric flavour, turning milder, more woody. There seemed to be a hint of vanilla at some point, but now it is gone. There is some roasted malt in there somewhere, it is not just sour. Very nicely balanced. Papsoe (14997), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear brown with a reddish hue and a huge, rough shaving foam style head leaving laces. Distinct Bretty nose blending in with some Bourbon notes. Medium body, some hard roasted malts, licorice and a berry-like tartness. Subtle Bourbon accents and a lacto tartness. A little astringency in the finish. Clearly this was infected and I seriously doubt that it was intended, but it works little wonders. Nice one. 211009 j12601 (1299), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA

Pouring at the Brass City Brew Fest from the secret bottle tucked away behind all of the regular stuff. Glad I got to try this one. See, taking notes in public does have it’s rewards. Pours a deep dark black with a thick tan head. Oily and viscous. Bourbon, roast, apple, wood, vanilla. Smells lovely. A little bit tangy and full of roast. Finishes up with a long slow roast bitterness. Really well done.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 27, 2009 Bottle: The aroma consists of coffee and chocolate along with some sour notes that come across like a Flemish Sour. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a moderate beige head. The flavor starts with chocolate and moderate cherry sourness. The finish has some light coffee and a hint of vanilla. It appears that it may be infected but it seems to work. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. hopscotch (5490), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2009 Bottle… Tar black ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Tanginess along with chocolate and espresso really stand out in the aroma. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. The flavor is mostly sweet and chocolaty, but offers a touch of acidity as well. Finishes crisp, moderately sweet and mildly tangy. Bottle courtesy of growler! Pours a very dark brown in color with a thin tan head. Aroma of wine, vanilla, bourbon and roasted malts. Taste of bourbon, grapes, bitter chocolate and wood. Mouthfeel was very lite, yet smooth and easy to drink. Very interesting, and the bottle was kind of cool. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

Nose is roasted chocolate malt, caramel and smooth bourbon. Flavor up front is lightly roasty with bourbon and chocolate notes. A little caramel. Finishes with an awesome and probably not intentional sour berry tartness. Not sour but this tart note adds an unexpected and amazing complexity. This is not unlike the "infected" batch of Speedway Stout. I actually think this is better. Impressive body for the lower ABV and just a great mix of flavors. Really impressive.
