Sep 12, 2005 Acquired via trade. For a guy who can’t stand coffee I sure like it in beer. Very dark brown color with a medium thick and foamy dark beige head. Thick lacing that doesn’t move much. Strong roasted coffee aroma with a nice dark malt undertone. Medium-bodied with a tasty bitter coffee flavor. Strong roasty character with some sweet malt and smoke. The finish is pretty soft but retains some coffee bitterness. Overall a pretty enjoyable brew.

Sep 6, 2005 Fresh, sweet coffee aroma overshadows the chocolate and roasted malt tones of the porter. Clear dark brown with low tan head that diminishes rapidly to ring. Chocolate and roasted malts again play second fiddle to coffee flavours with some leafy hops also notable. Medium-light body with somewhat watery texture and low carbonation. Sampled on cask at GBBF 2005.

Sep 5, 2005 Dark color and head. Both the aroma and flavor are roasted with strong coffee, it has a creamy texture. I did not get any hint of chocolate.

Sep 5, 2005 Bottle: Courtesy of Silphium. Strong roasted coffee aroma with hints of mocha. Pours a dark brown with red hilights. Roasted coffee from start to finish with light chocolate. A touch of hops in the finish. This one seemed rather simple but really worked for me. Only knock was that it was a tad thin.

Sep 1, 2005 Pours deep dark brown with a big tan head. Subtle aroma of coffee and milk?. Taste is coffee, roasted notes, slight hops. Very full, creamy mouthfeel. Coffee is present for sure, but not over the top. Well balanced. Awesome and underrated.

Aug 18, 2005 Cask (GBBF): Subdued roast coffee aroma. Black with a dark brown head. Sweet choc, mild roast coffee. Touch of hops in the finish. Medium bodied and quite nice.

Aug 16, 2005 Cask@GBBF 2005. Dark beer with a coffee aroma and a light malty and watery coffee flavour. Overall a reasonable porter but not as good as I was expecting.

Aug 10, 2005 Cask, GBBF 05. Very dark with a small beige head. Aromas are strong earthy roasty coffee with floral hops, fruity with berries. Flavours are sweet coffee, chocolate, earthy with more sweetness to follow. Dry, floral hops on the finish with good roast bitterness. Good porter.
